There is no doctor that recommends douching any more. It alters the PH in your vagina and can lead to more problems. Your vagina is a self-cleaning organ - let it do it's job. It is still healing from giving birth. Wear a panti-liner and change it a couple of times each day to stay fresh.

Douche can be really bad for your body, because the vulva area is so tender. And especially since you're still recovering from child birth is it in need to heal.
But I know feeling unclean is extremely unpleasant. So I'd suggest NOT doucheing but set an appointment for a PAP Smear and a check up. And in the mean time, drink lots of fluids like water or tea. You want to clear your system out as naturally as possible.

Douching in never recommended. It can offset the balance of the vagina. I know the smell isn't fun, but contact your doctor and tell them of your problem.

In case you didn't know,Regular vaginal douching changes the delicate chemical balance of the vagina and can make a woman more susceptible to infections. Douching can introduce new bacteria into the vagina which can spread up through the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Researchers have found that women who douche regularly experience more vaginal irritations and infections such as bacterial vaginosis, and an increased number of sexually transmitted diseases.

If you smell "fishy" down there, you need to get checked for bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas, and other sexually transmitted diseases.

the vagina is able to get rid of blood, sperm, and bacteria, on its own. It doesn't need any help from the douches sold over the counter.

douching removes necessary bacteria from your body and can cause yeast infections to occur as a result. ask your doctor about a feminine spray or some other odor reducing thing.most things like that just clear up naturally with time.

Douching is bad. You should never douche. The discharge will continue until it's all healed, and then the odor will go away. If you douched, it would only go away for an hour, and might give you problems.

Its normal to have a foul oder after giving birth, but you should wait at least 8-10 weeks before douching. especially if you have stitches. Try a sitz bath!, use ebsom salt in a tub of about 6 inches of warm water, don't use any perfumed soaps or cleansers or lotions, as these can cause a foul odor as well, and have been known to cause infection that soon after giving birth. congrats on your new baby, Joline
