I've been having my period for 8 days now...?!

Question: I'm on birth control and I started taking my current cycle of pills the day after I started bleeding. My friend says I'm probably going to have my period for a whole month now, is this true?

I'm not sure what pills you are on but you might want to see a doctor if it goes past 2 weeks.

You should have waited to start the pills until after your period.

The pills in the beginning have hormones that enable your period to come about while the pills at the end are basically just sugar pills that contain no hormones.

I doubt you'll bleed for the whole month...but if it goes past 2 weeks and hasn't lightened up..you need to see a doc asap.

Also if it is really heavy right now...you need to see a doc.

The physician can give you a pill that can stop your period in a day.

Good luck.

what pills are you on?

Ask your doctor! 99.99999999999% of the people on YA aren't qualified to give you an answer on this one!

i don't know...but i don't trust anyting that bleeds for 8 days and doesn't die

i never had this problem, but the pills you take on your period are different from the ones you take off your period, so when your body gets used to them your period will be shorter not longer...... you wont have it for a whole month...maybe some spotting but not a period because your body is still adjusting to the hormones...
hope i helped!

no its not true. What pill are you on? On a combined pill I would expect you to have a regular bleed every 4 weeks that should last 3-5days approx. On a mini pill it is more difficult to predict bleeding patterns.

Not necessarily. Although it is possible. It did happen to me once. You aren't supposed to have long periods on the pill though.

As it turns out I had a fibroid, and I had whacked out 14 day periods. Then I had a DNC and things are back to normal.

I'd mention it to your OB/GYN and if it keeps happening definitely go in and have it treated, as it could be something small like my fibroid, or cysts or even something serious like cancer.
