Early period... normal?!

Question: Hey there.
I'm on the pill, and I just started my last "real cycle" of pills. (I'm on Orthotricyclen Lo, it comes in 3 "real" pill cycles, one week each, and one week of placebo pills where you're supposed to get your period).
I got my period today, and this is 9 days before it's supposed to be due! I thought the pill was supposed to correct this, because this was part of the reason I went on the pill in the first place because I had irregular periods.
Is this normal? Does this still happen sometimes even though I'm on the pill? This is the first time it's happened and I'm a little freaked out!!

It depends on how long you've been on the pill. If it hasn't been long, it's definitely normal because you have to give your body a chance to get used to the hormones in the pill. If it's been a while, I still wouldn't worry. Sometimes your body gets thrown off because of changes in diet, exercise, etc. If it continues to next month or your period lasts more than, say, a week and a half, I'd call your OBGYN.

mother nature will guide you

i think it's normal, nothing t be worried about if you have been taking the pills properly ad on time every day

Don't freak out!

This is your body adjusting to the pills. Are you a Sunday starter? If your body isn't used to when you started, it may take another cycle to correct this. This is exactly why they say to use a backup method of BC for the first month of use...because it's still working out the kinks!

Wait another month, and if it happens again, go see your GC. But really, this is very normal. Good luck!

Not sure. I believe that it can still happen while on the pill. You might want to try a different pill to help you out. There are other options to help regulate your periods such as dietary changes and natural remedies that may be more helpful.

9 days isn't that bad. My girlfriend is on the pill as well and she fluctuates like crazy.

If have to be really careful with the pills, I find it is important to take them everyday at the same time. I notice when I don't take the pills right I began to spot and if it's not corrected the next time I begin to have a cycle. It's hard to get it back on track but If you have been taken them correctly the next question is what else has been happening while you are taken them. Your reacts to everything that happens in life stress and so on.
