Severe, excruciating leg pain associated with menstruation. Any ideas what it co!

Question: As far back as I can remember (I began menstruation when I was 9) I have had excruciating leg pain that occurs shortly after my period ends 3-4 days after the last day of my period. Although I can't be sure if it occurs every month, I would say that at least 8 months out of the year it happens. The pain is so severe that it will wake me out of a dead sleep and I cannot put weight on it at all, it's as if my leg has stopped working. There is no spasm that I can detect, although punching my thigh with a close fist will sometimes alleviate the pain momentarily. It generally originates from the groin muscle, across my thigh, to the outside of the knee.

I used to believe this pain was associated with ovulation, however, I have begun tracking my LH surge and it does not happen for another 3-4 days after the pain, generally...

Furthermore, I began taking clomid this month and although there could be conincidence involved, this pain was one of the worst in year.

Sounds like severe sciatic pain to me. Even if you've had a reproductive workup, your reproductive organs have a strong influence on every other part of your body, see the anatomy lesson at the HERS foundation website:

I always recommend women with fertility problems see both a chiropractor(to ensure there are no spinal nerve issues affecting fertility) and a naturopath to find nutritional deficiencies.

In your case the chiro might really help with the leg pain. Good luck!

Salt was my culprit...before a period i used to crave loads of salt and salty foods...but i wasnt as bad as you....off to the doctors young lady>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...go on...lol

Any answer that I give you may be of help. I still want for you to have the benefit of professionalism. You should get the advice of a doctor as to what he feels may be the underlying reason for this excruciating pain.

I wish for you and your loved ones, a most prosperous, healthy, God-endowed, Happy New Year.
