Abnormal bleeding?!

Question: My periods are regular as I am on the conbined bill (Yasmin)

I had my last period on 11.12.07

However, for the past week or so, I have seen spotting, when I go to the toilet.

I did take the morning after pill 2 weeks before the 11th December.

I did a test today (3 weeks after the unprotected sex) because I have heard that spotting is a sign of pregnancy. The test came back negative

I am thinking the worse, thinking that it is cervical cancer.

I am 24

I have been with my partner for 4 years, I do not smoke.

Has this happened to anyone, who has taken the morning after pill?

My next smear test is not due until April 2009, could I request one earlier?

It is most likely that taking the m.a.p has caused you to have a little breakthrough bleeding , this happens when something interferes with your pill and causes you to have the bleeding. You probably had a little when you first started taking the pill as your body gets used to the changes and its a similar thing. Your doctor may also recommend another pregnancy test to make sure of the result (morning after pill is not 100%) pregnancy can be a cause of abnormal bleeding. Call your doctor tomorrow and get it checked to put your mind at rest......it is very very unlikely that the symtoms you have are caused by cervical cancer .

YES! Request one right away!

it could just be the combined pill. But go see your doctor just to find out what it is and this will also put your mind at rest

You must see your GP but It is almost definitely due to taking the morning after pill.

you should go and get yourself tested for STI's, because even though you are in a stable relationship, you can still get them. there are STI's that develop by themselves, (i'm not accusing anyone of cheating).
good luck.
happy new year.
