I have a question about childbirth?!

Question: Do women sometimes defacate while giving birth

Answers: Do women sometimes defacate while giving birth

Yes, it's not at all uncommon. When the baby's head delivers, it can press the colon that lies behind it and force out any contents. It just depends on how much is in the colon at the time. Some hospitals give laboring moms an enema to make sure things are empty, some don't. The nurse assisting with the delivery has a towel on hand for just such an occurence. She just quick covers it, or if there is time she will move the dirty drape and replace it. Not a big deal at all. It happens.

Hey Heather,
Few people in the world will find this amusing...thought you might be one of them. A co-worker told me 5 minutes ago that she was uber constipated while pregnant due to her triple dose of iron pills and the fact that pooping is a chore for her to begin with. While giving birth -- not sure if it was at the same time or just during labor -- her contractions helped her poop along the way. Well, her daughter weighed in at 5lbs and THE PILE OF **** WAS 10 lbs! The nurses actually weighed it because they thought it was so funny! Unreal.

(DOOCE NOTE: That woman may just beat me when it comes to the contest of constipation. And pooping during labor is MUCH more common than people are willing to admit. I am not willing to admit that I pooped three times during labor, because admitting that would be gross. And this website is totally not about being gross. Or about poop.)

Yes, not eveyone, but it does happen.

yeah, got a problem?

Here is what I know, I had three children
when you go into labor they usually give
you an enama. This helps in that area, I
nor do I know of anyone that, had that
happen to them.

During labor I told the nurse that I had to poop and she wouldn't let me. Then after I cursed she let me sit on the toilet but she squatted down and watched to make sure I was pooping and not pushing out the baby! Haha. I just asked my husband if I pooped during the delievery and he said he didn't think so, but it's really the last thing on anybody's mind at the time, thus not a big deal if it happends, 'cuz sh@# happends!.
