Can u get pregnant if u have unprotected sex during your period...i always heard!

Question: You must have sex the day before, during, or soon after ovulation to become pregnant.

Pregnancy 101:

The egg releases an ovary (ovulation). Over the next several hours, the egg is propelled along by cilia in the fallopian tubes(http://www3.umdnj.edu/histsweb/lab17/ima... http://z.about.com/d/p/440/e/f/10339.jpg... where if it not fertilized in about 24 hours it dies. If the egg is fertilized, it travels (about 5 days) to the uterus, where it implants if the uterine lining is viable (able to support a pregnancy).

Most women ovulate about 2 weeks perior to their periods (Day 14 if you have a 28-day cycle). Obviously, if you are shedding your uterine lining in menstruation, the egg cannot implant.

However, women can ovulate any time (no, sex doesn't make you ovulate), so if you ovulate during your period, the uterine lining may be built up again enough to support a pregnancy by the time the fertilized egg arrives.

Short answer? Not as likely to happen, but as some women can tell you, it does happen.

I just read an article they say yes, but very unlikely.

That's a common misconception but you CAN get pregnant during your period. Some women ovulate during their periods so that could result in pregnancy if you have unprotected sex.

You heard wrong. Not usually likely, but possible.

It's not common, but my friend said that's how she got pregnant.

ANY TIME you have sex, you risk the chance of pregnancy.

On period, before period, after period, the pill, the patch, the ring, etc, you can get pregnant.

NOTHING is 100% except for abstinence.

YES! You can get pregnant ANY TIME you have sex (if you are a fertile woman), no matter what position you have sex in, or any procedures you do after sex (some women believe that if you stand up after sex, you won't get pregnant -- THIS ISN'T TRUE!!). You can even get pregnant from his pre-come (the stuff that dribbles out a bit before he actually ejaculates) in certain cases. And even though protection (condoms, the pill, etc) can greatly reduce the chances of being pregnant, THERE IS STILL A RISK!

So BE CAREFUL please! :)

While it is possible, it is very unlikely.
I was with a female for 4 years and we always had unprotected sex during her periods and never had a problem. I have 2 kids so I know it wasn't me.

yes, you can get pregnant any time you have unprotected sex, wether your on your period or not!

x

You can get pregnant any day of the month. Use a condom or some other form of protection unless you are trying to get pregnant. There is nothing like a baby crying in the next room...

At the beginning of your period, YES you can!!! I know this for a fact. Interestingly, your period will stopp within an hour.
Avoid at all cost, unless YOU WANT to become pregnant.
