Cysts are non-cancerous ... so if that's what's worrying you, let it go. She probably will have to have an operation - that's how they get them out. I put a link in for you to read more about it.

Antibiotics are given first in case it's just an inflamed lymph node that will shrink on it's own. Usually they do a biopsy next, which means using a very skinny needle to see if it's fluid or solid. Then usually a "cat scan" or "CT scan" to pinpoint exactly where it is and what it's made of. The next step is surgery to remove it.

It can be scary, because lumps in the body - AND surgery - are scary. But they're a "benign" problem (meaning not "malignant"), and relatively easy to treat.

Your mom's doctor will probably talk to you about it, if she asks him to.

Hang in there. :)

My mom has had several cysts and tumors surgically removed. It isn't much to worry about unless it is cancerous. She should be fine. Be strong!

just hold in there....cysts arent usually anything to bad. they are just sacs of water or fluid that have to be removed...but theyre almost never life threatning.
