  • because its a confusing time for young girls, and they aren't always comfortable with talking about it with family. You try going through that at a young age...not fun.

Because That's what girls deal with on a monthly basis and it's frusturating...ALRIGHT!!

Because people think it is a big step in a girls life. And a lot of parents won't talk to their own children about anything so they are uncomfortable talking to the parents. There are people on here who don't know where the tampon goes even.

Because periods are important things to girls, there is a lot to learn and a lot that can go wrong and especially in teens they are important, also it is important for a woman to know about her periods because they are related to her hormonal status so if something is funny with her period it's usually an indication of another problem. As to why people ask on YA it's because it's anonymous and you can get a variety of responses; in real life you might not be comfortable asking somebody, or nobody might know the answer (and it's not a big enough issue for a doctor).

because their mothers, the media and doctors scare the hell out of them about their reproductive system. They don't trust their own bodies and are made afraid of it. They only trust doctors and other people's opinions about their own bodies.
They also seem to experience a lot of trouble with their periods, which is not something that Nature intended. It's something(negative beliefs and feeling oppressed due to living in a patriarchal society) in the collective female subconscious mind that creates all these troubles and eventually diseases. But it is not normal, eventhough many think it is because it seems to affect almost every woman on the planet.

Hopefully they'll start to change their views on menstruation soon.
