Help, I've Missed Two Periods in a Row. (Not sexually Active)?!

Question: I've missed two periods but my cycle is still irregular. I know it's normal to miss one if you're irregular but I've missed two. I'm 14, 5"5 and 110.

I'M NOT SEXUALLY ACTIVE SO I HAVE A 0% OF BEING PREGNANT.

I don't know if it has anything to do with my lack of exercise. I played highly competitive soccer, but I decided to take a break for a few months and not play for the high school team. My last period was when I was still playing for my competitive team. When I started my break of soccer, that was the month of my first missed period.

I want to know what's going on.
Please Help :)

Honestly, I wouldn't be that worried. It's always a good idea just to run this kind of thing by a doctor, but it seems pretty normal to me.

First of all, how long have you had a period? The first two years you menstruate, it's common for it to be erratic and crazy. So you might not settle into a pattern until two years have passed. If you've started within two years, I think it's to be expected.

Second, for some women, being under a certain weight can keep their periods from coming. Have you lost weight since you stopped playing soccer? It doesn't sound like you're dangerously underweight or anything, so it's no big deal, but some women just learn to expect to miss periods if they drop a few pounds.

Third, some women just have irregular cycles. I had a roommate in college who went for 3-6 months without her period sometimes. Nothing wrong ... she was just really irregular. She thought she was lucky, actually!

Fourth, sometimes stress, anxiety, life changes can cause you to skip a period or two. Is there anything particularly odd going on in your life now? Exams, break-ups, family changes, etc.?

Again, maybe run it by a doctor ... especially if you've had a really, really regular cycle up until now. But seriously, don't panic. It's probably nothing. These things happen all the time, and they're no big deal.

It could be your body adjusting to your fitness level dropping or it could be due to stress, or changes in your diet/ weight, if you lose a lot or gain a lot quickly it can really mess things up with your cycles. I would see a doctor just to be sure tho

Talk to your mother or father about it first. It is not uncommon to miss periods especially if you are young and in a sport that is physically challenging. However, you should see a gynocologist to make sure there is not another issue going on. Not having your period is the FIRST sign of a problem in some cases. It is important to establish a relationship with a doctor you trust and to learn about your own body. Don't be afraid to talk to your parents, your doctor, school nurse or even your female PE coach. If you feel you can't talk to one talk to another. By the way you don't need to stop playing soccer because you didn't have a period unless you are having pain.
