No one can say exactly when a girl will get her first menstrual period, but usually girls will get it some time during puberty.

Some girls start puberty at age 9 or 10 where others may start as late as age 15 or 16. Each girl goes at her own pace. So don't think that it's a bad thing or that something is wrong if your friends start puberty a little earlier/later than you.

At the beginning of puberty, you'll notice that your breasts are developing and you're starting to grow a little hair under your arms. Hair also will grow on your genitals (pubic hair). In some girls, the time from the beginning of puberty to getting the first menstrual period may take only 6 months, where as for other girls, it may take longer and can take up to 3 years.

Every girl is different, and there is a wide range of normal development during puberty.

All I can say is that you should be patient, it will happen when your body is ready.

Good luck :)

I was 14

when the blood comes out thats when you will have it and you will be mad the reat of your life for getting it

soon really soon i got mine when i was 11

Only time will tell. You may be close.

I had mine when I was 11 almost 12. You should be having yours any time now :) depending on your body. The hormones are definitely there, they just haven't switched over to your cycle.

since you have cramps already you will be getting it really soon. it will come just be happy you have all the stuff with out the mess.lol

Very close. Keep some personal items with you at all times just in case it shows up while you are away from home. It would also be a good idea to wear panty liners everyday just in case. Better safe than sorry. We all have had those embarrassing moments when it has snuck up on us!

You sound like you are going to get it soon. I got mine when I was 10, and I know people who have gotten it at 9 so you are not too young. Does your mom know about what is going on with you? Make sure you let your mom know, you never know if the discharge could be another problem

Are you actually a girl because for your display pic/avatar it shows you as a man! Lol, I'm just kidding, but to answer your question I don't really know, everyone is different, but it sounds like you are showing 'the signs'. Just make sure that you are always prepared and you'll be okay. Good luck!

well i can tell u that i got mine at 5th grade and none of those happend to me.......well part of it excpt the hair im pretty sure ur close to it........u shold go see the doctor if ur over 16............ if u don't have it yet

you sound very close so be prepared i suggest using pantyliners untill your cramps stop and have pads in the house that you can use

Well you shouldn't have cramps yet. You get cramps from the blood clotting. Just because all these changes are happening doesn't mean you are going to start your period right away, you are simply going to puberty. I remember when I was your age just wanting to start. But I was 14 and one of my friends was 18 and then another one of my friends was 11. It all depends on your body. And I don't mean by what is happening on the outside but what is happening on the inside. I will let you know though be glad you have not started, craps hurt, you have to deal with staining your panties pretty soon you get really moody and sad for no reason. Just enjoy that you havent started yet. It will happen when it is ment to.

Hi, this is Madison here. This is a response to your question You can get your period between the ages of 9 and 16. The average age is 12. You start to grow hair and your breasts develop when you reach puberty.
If you have cramps and check your underwear for anything and find that there is a white, gooey substance, don't worry becasue it's just a self cleaning system for your body. You will know when you get your period for the first time: you can see a little bit of blood on your underwear. Remember to always carry a couple of pads and clean underwear in your bag incase it happens at school. Your period last for about a week; the first 3-4 days your period is heavy, the rest is light.
It comes once a month, so also remember to count a month from your last period. And you also get cramps during your period... I can't really remember why. I fainted on the first day of my period! :S You get yor period because you are maturing, becoming a young woman. It's alright to get your period early or late. I got mine at the age of 11... I hope this info helps. Feel free to tell me if the info has mistakes in it.

I was 13 when I first got my period. I had no underarm hair, but had pubic hair. My breasts were developing, cant remember what size I was at that point though. I was getting monthly discharge for 6 months prior to my period starting. The day before a period I am tired, my nipples are tender and my stomach cramps awfully. It is not something to look forward to.

Everyone is different. It will happen when your body is ready to do so, no-one on answers will be able to tell you when your period will start.
