I you want to use tampons, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't. TSS is a rare but serious condition that can be fatal. There really isn't much of a risk of getting it if you change your tampon every 4 to 6 hours. What causes TSS is a build up of toxic bacteria in your blood stream, due to leaving your tampon in too long. There are really no problem with tampons, as far as I know of. Some people just don't like them because they seem uncomfortable, but everybody is different. You will never know until you try them. Remember, TSS is very rare, and you most likely won't get it if you change your tampon regularly. In fact, TSS is so rare that I have only seen 2 cases in my career. And only one of them was related to using tampons. Good luck! ;P

TSS is very rare, that should not be a factor.

I personally do not use them. I used them in highschool for gym class but not anymore. I just don't think it is very sanitary. But they are safe and you have to be very diligent in changing your tampon often. TSS occurs when a tampon is left in the vagina for an extended period of time and bacteria grows rapidly. All in all it is a personal preference.

TSS happens when you leave tampons in for an extended amount of time. I have been using them for 23 years and have never had a problem. Just make sure you change them regularly and don't use super when a regular will work etc.

TSS occur very rare. I'm using tampons since my period started (14) and don't have any problems. I just know it's much more comfortable and wouldn't change it.

I used tampons when I was active in sports, etc. Now that I don't swim, etc. I reverted back to a pad.

When I first used tampons, my school nurse suggested that I use the very smallest, for comfort inserting it. I used a bit of KY jelly to lubricate the tip, it seemed to help the dragging sensation.

tampons are better than pads (in my opinion)
every box of tampons comes with a sheet of paper that tells you about tss and how to avoid it.

tss is when you leave a tampon in too long and your body starts to absorb the toxic blood back into your system, don't think just because you're wearing a super tampon that you can leave it in for longer. (that's how most people get it)

tampons are more comfortable, you can't even feel them at all.

good luck.

Honey, i dont want to scare you. But i had used tampons for years...maybe 17 years. I lost 2 of them! 1 i had to go to the Dr to get removed ( it was a petite size, for very light flow) the other came out the next time i had a period ( i didnt even know i had lost that one!)...it freaked me out so much, i never use tampons again unless im swimming or on a trip out for the day, when im home i use pads, i hate tampons with vengeance.
