I was 13 and I was watching The Wizard of Oz on tv at home. If just told my mom, and she kept some pads in the house in case something like this happenened, so she gave me one. If you don't have a mom around, or don't feel like you can tell her, maybe you can get someone to give you a ride to the store & buy some pads. I would start with pads, and wait to use tampons until later until you are a little more comfortable with your period & your body. You should probably buy a couple kinds, both heavy & light since you don't know what kind of flow you will have. Use the heavier ones, or overnight ones at night. I like the ones with wings, because they protect the sides/edges of your underwear. Try to always have a few with you, in your purse or something so you aren't "surprised" by your period at school or something. When you are young, your period might not always be regular, so you might not always get it around the same time every month. (If you are lucky you will, but most young girls don't). If you try to keep track of it on a calendar, you might start to see a pattern however. It is OK, and normal if you don't develop a pattern for a couple years however.

It's embarrassing yes, but your mom went through the same thing.
But I laughed after I told her.
So it wasn't that bad since she was half asleep and didn't say anything except "Get a pad then."

i was slightly late at 14.
it was during lunch at school and my stomach just hurt so much i tried to eat something but it kept going on so i thought maybe i need to poo or something so as i went to the toilet i found blood. i was soo scared, started crying and went home LOL.
8th grade.. 13. I used pads at first cuz i was scared of a tampon. lol.
I started at fifteen and a half. I though it was kind of late for me, but my little sister started at ELEVEN! I'd take the age I started at any day over eleven!

it was about a week after i had finished junior school. so 11.
i was 13 and our school nurse told us dont were white pants,were pads, make sure you have a note in your locker in case you need to miss P.E. for it and talk to your mom, sister or school nurse,im sure they want to help you.

I think I was 13. Just have all of your stuff ready and with you to be prepared. Pads, tampons, liners, etc. It makes you feel nauseous, and like you have to go number 2 constantly. You are going to have really bad cramps for oh about 20 years or so. My period was always terrible until about 2 years ago. I am 34. It is going to suck. Everyone says oh you are a woman now, well great. Just deal the best you can. good luck

But luckily my mum and Nana were there to support me and my mum gave me one of her pads.
Everything will be okay.

Make sure to bring extra pants and pads just in case you start at school.

my sister got it at the age of 14 but i got it never......But my sis gave me advice....always carry an extra pad or tampax when you lEAVE somewhere else....always change every 5 to 4 hours and just be plain HEALTHY...p.s never where pad in swimming pool....Hope that answered ur Question=]

I was 10 yrs old,and I was so terrified.I think you should go to your Mom,and talk to her about it.If I were you,I would use pads,and not tampons,because tampons pose a health risk.
I absolutely refuse to stick those inside of me.I've heard some women actually get them stuck inside of them.Don't use those.

Um your tummy might hurt a bit like it's warm? Just get a pad like if you're at school go to the office and get a pad they have some down there for that exact purpose!!

I was 11 was out shopping with my mum i had no pain the first time but went to the toilet and what do you know! I was sooooo scared and told my mum as soon as i got back home and i was in tears! lol! it is funny no cuz i dont no what i was upset about i was just scared like you are but there aint nothing to be scared about just tell your mum or a friend and you will be absoloutly fine xx
