I found all the pills gave my really bad headaches, so my doctor advised me to try the pill injection and it is sooooooooooo much easier. I don't know any1 who has gained loads of weight with it, might be 1 or 2 pounds but nothing really. The advantages of the injection is you have not got to remember to takes it every day you have it every 10-12 weeks, and most people like myself don't have periods at all, so there is no moods either or stomach cramps its great. But before you decide what you want speak to the doctor first and they will advise which will be best. If you know what you want and you ask the doctor he will give you what you want if it is safe for you. I hope this helps you, and it really isn't as drastic as you might think the symptoms you may get.

It isn't that bad. Well, it wasn't for me anyway. And everyone gets moody whether they are on the pill or not.

There will be a method that suits you, you just have to find it.

Speak to your doctor about it.

You could even go on the injection or patch???
They good, especially if you think you are likely to forget to take your pill on time.
Good luck! =D

when i decided to go on the pill i was worrying about all the same things, and trying to do research on all the different ones but gave up as there were just so many to look at! I went to my doctors and i told him what i wanted it for (to help clear up my face and for contraception) and he was able to pick the one best for me, as your doctor will be able to do for you. But dont be shy to ask your doc all these things!! It is a medication that is altering your natural state, so you have a right to know what may happen.

As previous person said, there are other techniques as well. My friend just got a tiny rod inserted in her arm which gives contraception for THREE years!! And she had a student health card so it only cost her like $5! Deffinately worth it, i would have done that had i known about it.

Good luck! :)

This is different for everyone. I have been on the pill for 6 years, and I never gained any weight. This really is just a myth. Worse case scenario, you gain 5 lbs. That's not so bad. Talk to your doctor about different types of birth control. I have tried them all, and I wouldn't do the shot (depo), it has been known that it is really hard to get pregnant once you stop. And the patch, is not very effective. Oral contraceptives are simple, and easy. You might want to try ortho tri cyclen lo, or yaz. I am taking Yaz and I like that one the best. If you are sexually active, you also should use condoms. Remember birth control won't protect you from sexually transmitted diseases. good luck =]

yes, you are correct, there are various types of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs)/birth control pills.

however, before starting on OCPs, it is best for you to first consult a physician, who will examine you and ask some questions regarding your health, and determine whether it is safe for you to use this type of contraception.

some city/rural health units or barangay health centers also offer free OCPs to their clients. however, as i mentioned, you will be first screened, to assure the effectivity and safety of this contraception method for your use.
