Well...you're not pregnant. Congrats.

There are many things that can contribute to secondary amenorrhea (losing your period after you start). Changes in diet, sudden weight loss, and over exercising can all result in changes in the menstrual cycle.

It can also be a sign of significant hormonal changes in your body at the hypothalamic level (where hormone levels are controlled in your brain). Women's hormones are thrown off at the littlest of things.

This is probably a good time to talk to your mom or a more mature female in your life and maybe thing about a trip to the OB/GYN (it's really not that scary, I promise). Birthcontrol pills can help regulate your hormones better and give you a more consistent period, or a trip to the doctor may find an underlying cause that can be easily corrected.

Yes if you've never had sex you do need to see a doctor or at least talk it over with your parents 4 months is a while to go with out a period

its normal espeically if you've changed your diet, extra stress, excersising lots ect...plus womens periods dont generally become regular till your an adult about 18, 19.

It's probably normal. Your period can change with your diet and physical activity. For example, if you joined athletics or cheerleading or something where you are more physically active than you used to be, that could very likely be why. Unless you are not feeling well, I wouldn't worry about it.

im your age and i had this same thing.
you go visit your doctor and hell probably run some blood tests to see if your hormones are alright and to rule out any diseases. you could just be irregular and either wait it out or go to the doctor and get some pills to speed it up.

Missing periods can be caused by eating disorders, excessive exercise, stress, smoking, at your age, they might not be regular yet. See your Dr.

Sometimes if you get too skinny or are not getting enough iron your periods can stop. It happened to me when I was anorexic. Maybe you are not eating enough.
Good luck

Other than pregnancy, high stress or vigorous athletics can halt a menstrual cycle.

That said, a gynecological exam would not be a bad idea.

You need to go to the doctor as soon as possible. Tell your parents. The first question everyone is going to ask is if you are pregnant or not. If you are you need to make some big decisions. I get the feeling that there is no possible way you are pregnant. Good, you still need to see the doctor. Your period helps to flush out your system. If it stopps you can get sick. Stay positive and prepare to answer the are you pregnant question like 100 times. Then get to the doctor.

unless you are on poor diet and having eating disorder.

I strongly recommend you to see doctor now

or your body will shut down at anytime

I was like that.. got my first period at 14 had it for a couple months then nothing for 2 yrs! Mind you I wasnt sexually active at the time either! It wouldnt hurt to mention it though to your dr! Just rule out anything that could be causing it to have stopped!

The same thing happened to me when I started my period. It takes years for your menstrual cycle to become regular. As long as you have not had sex you're ok.
