Well when swimming you must use SOMETHING as your period does NOT stop nor does it slow down in the water (it is only dispersed and only looks like it does, however you WILL bleed into the pool).

You could also try a moon/diva cup (google it).

Have you tried the smallest lowest absorbency tampon with a plastic applicator? I recommend Tampax Pearl Lites, they are excellent to use!

use pads ... I don't like using tampons b/c it hurts to take them out too plus they could cause you an infection so I would try pads

You probably need the smallest tampons made. It may simply be too big. You may want to use a little ky on the tip when inserting. While inserting keep in mind you need to aim slightly backwards and make sure it is in as far as possible.
peace

just use pads

Ya use pads,u dont have to use tampons if u dont like them.Plus, pads are safer.i only use pads,i never evenn tryed tampons before!!im too scared to try them and the idea kinda grosses me out !!lol

What i do is I don't swim when I get mine, but mine's short, also just use pads. I think Tampons hurt, so i don't use them.

You have two options. The first is to switch to pads, the second is to decide why the tampons bother you and attempt to fix the problem. If you are removing the tampon before it is ready, it will hurt. It needs to have a chance to soak up the blood and be moist before pulling out. For some women it take 8-12 hours to soak up enough blood, for others it is only one or two hours. If it is still too dry the cotton sticks to the sides of your vagina and this is not at all comfortable to remove. The same is true for insertion. Also the type of tampon you are using can cause discomfort. For example, I can not use anything but OB or Playtex tampons. The other brands are too long and are uncomfortable for me. And one more tip, always start with the lowest absobancy first (light or regular) and work up if you need to.

Sometimes women have trouble using tampons and they can make them feel uncomfortable - even when they're much older! I'd recommend trying out a menstrual cup of some kind. I'm currently using the divacup and I'm a young teen. They do have a learning curve to them and it takes awhile to master the technique of using it correctly, but whenever you get used to it then it will offer more protection then tampons do and they're really comfortable. The divacup doesn't have the risk of TSS, and it doesn't contain any chemicals like tampons do (tampons contain dioxin, rayon, and bleached cotton! ew!). Menstrual cups can also be used for swimming, hiking, camping, or any other physical activities or sports. Best of luck!
