aww sure sweetie. You're period is also known as your menstraul cycle. It happens once a month for about a week and all it basically is is a lot of bleeding. You'll get cramps and your stomach will hurt the first day or two, you'll feel bloated and you might even get cravings and lose your temper. it sucks, but dont worry-it happens to every woman!:)

The reason it happens is because of your ovulation cycle. When you ovulate you produce eggs and when you don't use those eggs (i.e dont get pregnant) then your body gets rid of them, and getting your period is how it does that.

To lessen the pain take about two motrin pills a day, drink warm liquids, water definitely helps, and stay strong:) all of us go through it, its just apart of life. Eventually you'll get so used to it, you won't even notice it that much after the first day. Good luck!

nooooooooooooooooooo

Then ask her to explain it.

Go to her and ask her about it because you're getting older. I know it's alot better, but more awkward to hear it from your mom, but you can always research it, and also, normally in school they'd have a class on it and explain things about it, but that's normally around middle school and i don't know your age yet, but you can look it up on the computer probably

tell her you need to talk to her and tell her what u know and let her fill you in on the rest

I wouldn't say its a LOT of bleeding- and actaully they say in total on average its about 2 or 3 table spoons worth- but it feels a lot more.
Some people get a light dot the first day - almost as a warning! and then second and 3rd days is quite heavy - needing 2 or 3 tampons or pads.(always wear pads at night because there is a risk of an infection called TSS if you wear tampons too long(more than 8 hours)) the 3rd day may be just as heavy or a bit lighter then after that hardly much at all for another 1 or 2 days. And no other symptoms (water retention, cramps in legs or back)- but as we see above every one is different , symptoms are quite common.. so this is just one of thousands of examples.

Perhaps write a letter to your mum/mom so you can say all you need to - and she has a chance to think about it all. Just as a way to introduce the topic- for you both!
