I only had three hours sleep last night due to various reasons and today at work i was very surprised that i felt ok more awake than normal but now i feel awful! Drained and sicky and i think if i carried on having bad nights sleep then i would get worse!

Lethargic,run down,depressed,out of it.

TIRED !!!

Sick, dizzy, "spaced out", achey, run down, weak, sore eyes...

tired

I start feeling very nauseous and irritable. I start feeling run down and my stomach hurts more (but I have stomach problems anyway).

It's not fun =)

drained of energy, lethargic, tired

exhausted and sometimes depressed nothing worse than lieing awake in bed when everybody else is asleep.

like a walking zombie, just asking for trouble.

Probably really crap! I know if i dont sleep for a few nights i can end up really sick and end up vomitting! But that doesnt happen to all people. Some people can actually handle quite well without sleep or with very little sleep. Some people cant handle if they miss two hours of their 8 hour sleep every night. Often though, you'll feel lethargic, sleepy, maybe nauseaous, probably eat more (to make up for energy you arnt making when you sleep) grumpy and perhaps sad.

big headache and unable to concentrate.

Speaking as an insomniac, it makes you feel pretty lousy. But more specifically... sleep deprivation weakens the immune system, making you prone to whatever bugs are going around your town. Tiredness, nausea, and headache are also common. If you get really sleep deprived (fortunately this has only ever happened to me once in my life) you can develop a lot of little psychological tics... personally I had a big sense of unreality and loss of ability to perceive the passage of time correctly, but irritability, depression, and hallucinations can also occur.

Tired.

We all have temporary ups and downs with no serious side effects apart from tiredness. After a few nights, it can start to make you feel pretty cranky so you should avoid driving or operating machinery.
If it goes on for a *long* period, your judgement may become impaired, your moods become more variable, your memory become less reliable, your libido be reduced and your immune system become less robust. You can also start to gain weight because of the effect of sleep deprivation on hormones related to hunger. Sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture and, if you have ever suffered from long-term sleep problems, you will understand why. Long term lack of sleep (or poor quality of sleep .... which you will not always be aware of) needs to be investigated as it wrecks lives.
