Menstrual Alternatives?!

Question: Hi, I asked a question about the DivaCup the other day, but nobody really replied. So I'm looking for alternatives to pads and tampons - especially feedback on the divacup. I'm 13 y.o., and a virgin, and I've never used tampons before, so if you have used the divacup and have suggestions, that is great!!

I looked up the DivaCup and was almost sold on the idea, until i read that you can REUSE it. I'm not keen on re-inserting a product - even if they say you can re-use it. I think that pads are great for light flows. Tampons work best because there is less chance to have "accidents". I read up on the sponge, but again - hygienically speaking - ugh...
No-one can really tell you (well, maybe your gynocologist can) what works best for you because it tends to be a personal choice. Keep googling and asking around.

I love the pear tampons. They are not only pretty they are extra clean!!! Make sure to purchase the little wipes also!! Sanitary is always great!!!

just try tampons then! this will help u

The cups are WAY more intrusive than tampons. They are also much more messy. Now, for an active mom or something, they might be better because you can wear them all day.... but they are a LOT more difficult to put in than a tampon. I have tried them. Not only are they more difficult to get up in there, they are extremely messy when you take it out. It's seriously nasty.

The very best bet your going to have is to use tampons. I hate pads, too. Tampons are wonderful. I have tried all the alternatives and I vote tampons as the easiest and they are also a lot less drama. They make special tampons for teens that are a lot easier to insert. Talk to your mom or a sister or an aunt or whoever. They can help you choose the right kind. The first time you try tampons, you may want to wear a pad or panty liner to make yourself feel more secure. It's not necessary, but it would calm your mind a bit.
