Does the pill mess with your cycle as much as Depo Provera?!

Question: I have used Depo Provera for a couple of years and I think it's a great contraceptive, but I decided to come off it to let my body settle back into a proper cycle as i got no periods on it. I have been off it for almost six months now and my body still has not had a proper period and I spot all through the month. I understand this is normal coming off depo, but I was wondering if the pill has the same effect? I was thinking of using the pill as a contraceptive as I was hoping it's easier to come off and have a normal cycle. Is this the case with the pill, or is it just the same as depo? Thank you

When I went off depo, my Dr. put me on b.c. pills right away to regulate my system.

The pill doesn't mess you up like Depo does; I was able to conceive my children with no problems just going off the pill when we were ready. Your body shouldn't have a hard time adjusting.

I went from depo immediately to pills (Kariva) and got my period back within three months. I've been on Kariva for almost two years with no problems.

the depo is alot stronger and messes up the cycle alot more, but it's only been 6 months i think you need to leave it until at least a year so your cycle can normalise! i've known someone who's cycle wasn't normal for 2 years after depo and adding more hormone to that could infact cause alot more damage - talk to your gyno because they know what they're talking about =)

i was on depo for 9 yrs, had to switch cause of medical reasons...my gyno told me that even if u on a pill, u dont have a normal period, u have "pill period". pills or depo is good for people who have kids already. however, everyone has a different opinion on this subject. pills screw ur periods the same way depo does.
good luck!!!!
