I want to use tampons but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?!

Question: I'm 19 years old and have been using pads since I began to get my periods (12 years old)... but now I am thinking I want to start using tampons because everyone says they are good to use... I have tried using them about three times but I can never seem to get them in if that makes sense? Can someone help me?

It takes practice, and relaxation.
I probably went through a whole box (not all at one time) before I was comfortable with them. At first when I could finally put one in I was always paranoid about it sliding out, and of course it felt that way. You learn to get comfortable with it. Just not too comfortable, or you may forget it's there!

u need to relax for one and try putting a foot up on the toilet might be easier just go slowly trying in insert when ur fingers reach the skin then push in the rest of the applicator which despenses it... and pull out thats all there is to it... make sure thought that ur using the right sized tampons for ur flow...

if you're still a virgin then its going to be harder, some girls are just, um, tighter than others, so you just have to relax and push it in, it'll go.

What you have to do is RELAX! Don't think about what your doing as you do it. I initially had a tough time when I first started, but if you just relax your body and breathe, it'll be a piece of cake!

Best Wishes!

definately make sure your not using one too big for you.. also you need to relax! I hated them the first time i used them but yes now they are great..also the angle your trying to put it in makes a HUGE difference.. tilt it going down as your putting it in..

I know exactly what you're doing wrong. You need to NOT clean yourself so well "there", so you'll be lubricated enough for the tampon to slide in easily and deep enough. Also, you need to relax and not think that it could go in too deep; it won't. Quite the contrary, if you don't push it in deep enough, it'll be sooo uncomfortable, you'll have to take it out again. Relax and don't wipe "in there" before you insert it, okay?

use plastic applicators they glide in easier and the instructions give you ways to insert it, i like standing with one foot on the toilet personally and relaxing your vaginal muscles is key. Just place it in there and relax while u push the rest of it up there

When my friend first started using them and I had already been using them for a long time, she said she couldn't use them cause the hurt, and well turns out she wasn't putting them in right. I had to tell her and then it was okay! Make sure you put the applicator in all the way up to where your fingers grip the applicator and THEN push the end of the applicator. I think the main mistake a lot of women make is just putting the applicator in a little way and trying to shove the cotton part in, when it isn't in far enough back. Anyways, I hope this made since. Even try the Playtex Slimfit tampons, that's what I started on.
