Is it possible that a person can live till an old age if they are a binge drinke!

Question: Someone close to me has made the families life a misery for twenty odd years now. She has been drinking on and off for all of these years and made my mums life and her sons life hell. Every time something happens in her life (bad) she hits the bottle. And loses so much weight with no eating food, just vodka that it cant be doing her any good inside. How can it not have affected her liver?? She drinks and drinks for about 5 months and then goes off it for a while and then starts again. How has it not killed her yet?? I cant understand that at all.

hi.
it depends on the individual and can vary with genetics etc etc.
yes but it will catch her up in the end.
you don't say what her current age is now, presumably 40 or something?
the liver can restore itself to a degree if it has a break, which is probably what is happening when she stops for a while.
you might wish that she expires early given her conduct?
or have run out of patience with her behaviour over the years.
but perhaps look at other alternatives for her & counselling when stuff happens in her life - stuff happens everyday and other people deal with it without hitting the bottle.
was there an initial trigger that started this pattern of behaviour?

or even try praying for her if you feel you can manage it.

No, they don't tend to live to a ripe old age, but they can muddle along for long enough to torment those around them!

The human body is quite resilient.

Perhaps her family should cut her off until she starts acting more reasonably - which probably won't happen, but why tolerate such a person?

Yes its possible .Binge drinkers do live long although eventually the liver gets affected.Alcohol in moderate amounts is a good stimulant for the heart. It helps lessen cholesterol .

nopee. it's damaging them in a lot of ways, so they probably wouldn't live past 70 or even 60 if binge drinking doesn't kill them one night first.
