My girlfriend's yeast infections?!

Question: My girlfriend and I have been dating for over a year now. We have extremely good sex. There's just one thing that I can't get over. She has yeast/bacterial infections all the time. Her doctor told her to take these little capsules to rid the infection. It worked as prescribed, but they came back within a couple of days.

It's making her uncomfortable around me, not to mention her discomfort of having it at all. I try to be supportive, but there has to be a cure.

The doctor says that it's hormonal and there's nothing that can be done. Come on, you can transplant a heart, but you can't figure out how to prevent a bacterial infection?

This is really getting to me. We've searched all the forums and have tried the whole, wear cotton panties, eat healthy, don't wear tight cloths, yada yada yada.

What can we do? There has to be something that can be done. I refuse to accept his answer and just simply LIVE with this issue.

okay there is a natural home remedy that I have also used myself. I know that it's going to sound way out there but I would never tell someone to do something that I haven't tried myself. I'm talking about boric acid. It's safe, look at contact lense solution and eye wash they have boric acid in there. You get powdered boric acid from the pharmacy, it might be on the shelf you might have to ask for it. Then you get 00 (double zero) capsules and fill them with the boric acid. Use one capsule at bedtime and one capsule in the morning NOT BY MOUTH. They should be inserted into the vagina as far as possible. She should keep everything down there very dry, after bathing and using the restroom, wipe and dry off as good as possible and then use a blow dryer on the cool setting to make sure that it is good and dry. She can also take a tampon and put tea tree oil on the tampon and insert it, then take it out after about 6 hours and repeat. She could insert acidophilus capsules as well but none is as good as the boric acid. She should take acidophilus capsules or tablets by mouth as well. If you guys are looking for a MEDICATION from the doctor that will work ask for the old school called Nystatin. It comes in a tablet form that will be inserted. You should also avoid sex until the entire treatment is finished no matter which one you choose.

see a different doctor

You need to be treated too. You're reinfecting her.

i get yeast infections a lot too. and i talked to my mom bout it and theres nothing u can do. i use monistat to help it helps a great deal!!

if its hormonal then perhaps you need to look into hormone therapy or a form of the pill that controls hormone levels.

and just because you've tried all the usual cures doesn't mean she should stop doing any of them. anything that might help should be tried.

If she has yeast infections and you two keep having sex, then you will reinfect her because men can have yeast infections too and be symptom-free. Get treated at the same time and get your girlfriend to use a topical treatment as well as capsules to really knock it on the head. Also tell her to stop using soap products/scenting products to wash her privates. That can irritate people a lot- she should try using some of those Simple products that are really mild.

I like only the truth's answer ... get a second opinion

There is a cure.. I had a yeast infection and I got it cured... I cant remember what I used though..
First try some other doctor.. or look it up..
Dont give up on her.. it will make her sad and or emotional

Tell her to eat more yogurt or to take acidophilus. Both are full of good bacteria that will help to fight bacteria. Also, after you have sex make sure she's taking a shower. Sex can push bad bacteria inside of her, thus causing the yeasties. Good luck!

I would get a second opinion, just to be sure...but some women just produce too much and it is something she'll have to just deal with...

She should take a probiotic to help prevent...
