Stretch mark question (ladies please!)?!

Question: Ok so, I'm not exactly a small woman but not quite plus size either. I have stretch marks. They aren't anything new. I don't really pay any attention to them. But recently 2 of my stretch marks started kinda hurting. I'm not sure if these are new ones or if they were already there and just changed or got bigger. But they are slightly red and a little painful. So, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on their stretch mark exp. Do they hurt when you get them? Maybe I'm being dumb. I dunno. But I'm kinda curious. Its not super painful or anything. I can live with it. It's just kinda irritated. I guess that's the best way to put it. I'm not asking for medical advice just personal experience so please NO go to the doctors, it could be something serious, etc unless that was your personal experience. Thanx

I can't really be of much help, I'm afraid. I have quite a few stretch marks from losing weight and gaining weight too quickly, but in my experience they have never been red or painful, and they haven't ever hurt when getting them or anything. You don't mention where the stretch marks are, but are you sure it's them that's hurting and not something internal... For instance, if you've bruised or been hit by something, it could be just a bruise that will heal up in a few days?

I got stretchmarks on my sides and thighs because of my growth spurts. I've had them forever! I know that some were kinda painful when I grew a lot at once. But I'm not sure if you're growing or past that stage. My stage was a long time ago. If you're gaining more weight that could cause it too.

To ease the pain use ice packs or heating pads, whatever helps the most. Since they're red and painful I wouldn't recommend putting anything topical on them that could soak into the skin or irritate them even more unless it's a special stretchmark cream or lotion.

Good luck and I hope you're pain free soon!

Don't worry you are fine. What happens with stretch marks is actually simple. You are born with a certain amount of fat cells. When you gain weight these fats cells grow. When they run out of room to grow the burts making more fat cells. You can never get rid of fat cells you can only shrink them. The red stretch marks are actually this process taking place. I have experienced many of them they turn the flesh color eventually. I know it sucks to know that many fat cells just got added but you can shrink them. You can get stretch marks from gaining weight quickly or losing weight. When you gain weight is when the stretch marks turn the red color. If I had to guess they are probably irritated because they are where clothing tends to rub up againist them. I have experienced this a few times. Try cocoa butter from the grocery store. That tends to reduce the visual part of the marks. I have had the best luck with the wax type one. I have not got real results with the lotion form. Good luck!
