ok here how it goes,
Implants are good ..they are injected under the skin ..they last for 3 - 6 months ..
Foam: a pill that is inserted in ur vagina..it creates a foam ..popular in japan i.e. Neosampon...
Condoms: boring for men ..
Pills.. handy .. as long as u remember to take it ..
Cooper T: sort of a lube inserted in u.. it is the worst kind don't try it,...
go with the 1st option ..it is the safest... check on wikipedia for prevention rates

Abstaining means not to have sex. It's your best choice.

If you want to have sex then go with the pill. Other ways aren't tested very well and have had bad side effects.

An 'implant' can be put into a girls arm to prevent pregnancy, an injection can be given to a female that prevents pregnancy and the injection lasts for up to 3 months, sometimes there are side effects but not usually. All information about these are available at a family planning clinic which you can go to at any age.

I can tell you but the best advice is to go to the doctor or family planning clinic. look in the phone book. most will not tell your parents.

no matter where you go; condoms are always voted best because unless they break, or come off when he pulls out; they prevent both pregnancy & std's.
it is important to make sure that both you & your partner are tested for std's before having 'unprotected sex' eg, without a condom.

abstenence is usually voted best by religous types; hovever raging teenage hormones means your least likely to achieve this one! ....especially the male in the relationship.
'mutual masturbation' aka 'hand-job' are good ways to satisfy this need; without penetration but beware.... semen can impregnate you without penetration.... anywhere in the genital area is good enough!!

frequently people are turning to hormonal medication such as the pill, the implant and injections. you MUST talk to your doctor about this, and if you don't understand... get a seccond opinion.
both the injection and the implant may stop your period while you are on them, or they may not. 'they' don't know why.
there are side effects with thesse drugs, including mood swings and thrush (both vaginal and oral) but your doctor will go through this with you.
the side effects of contraceptive drugs are far better than the side effects of an abortion; or even pregnancy!

the other kinds are less-effective:
diaphram
rhythm method
ovulation tests
withdrawal

withdrawal is NOT a good method.... this is where the man pulls out before he comes. like I said.... anywhere around the genital area is good enough for sperm.... not only that is the penis can 'pre-come' before even entering, and there can be sperm in that...... there only needs to be one!

rhythm is calculating when you ovulate by recording your cycle (period). unfortunately this is like predicting the future; or the weather... sometimes you get it right.... sometimes even the weather man on TV is wrong.... are you willing to take that chance?

it is important if you take the pill to take it every day without fail; and if you miss one use condoms for at least a week.
the morning after pill is a strong dose of the regular pill and can cause side effects and nausea too.
if you miss a pill AFTER having sex... the sperm can live inside you for several days, so you are still at risk then.

'missing a pill' includes; forgeting to take one within 12 hours of the regular time,
taking one and then vomiting within 1/2 an hour
having diarrhoea
taking them at the same time as antibiotics (antibiotics irritate the digestive system, so they may not be absorbed)
taking them with antacids

missed sugar pills mean nothing because they are placebos.
DO NOT miss pills immediately before or after sugar pills, these are important too.

personally I have the implant, implanon. it is hard to keep this a secret from your parents because you have a large bandage on from insertion, but it has worked well for me. there was no pain and the bruise dissapeared after a week.
it's been in for a year now and it's nice not to worry about having to take the pill. I don't get my period, but 1/3 of women do and the other 1/3 get 'spotting' (small spots of blood throughout the month)

also, because technically you don't get a true 'period' on the pill, it is less painful, and lasts shorter.

goodluck :)
remember, talk to your doctor, nurse, or school teacher... whoever you feel you can.
oh, especially discuss all this with your boyfriend!! he needs to know how much effort you have to go to!!!!

:D
