Scared to go to doctor...?!

Question: Not because im scared of the doctor, but because Im scared of what he/she will find. im scared of finding the right doctor, and im scared about how much its going to cost me. I really need to go. I havent had my period in 4 months and im not pregnant. i made it to a general Physician, she did a blood test and a thyroid test, said everything came back normal and negative and it seemed like she didnt want to help me any more than that. even though i have a big list of symptoms and problems. Im affraid the next doc. i see wont care about my problems (seems like all that ive seen in past didnt) does anyone have any words of encouragment?

You should try another doctor if you weren't comfortable with the first one. Make a list of all your concerns and symptoms so you will be prepared to talk to the doctor. I had a similar experience as yours. I went 6 months without a period and was NOT pregnant. I had a ton of tests and started to worry that I had cancer or something. Finally, I found a doctor that listened to all my worries and ordered more tests. She finally figured out that I had an abnormally high level of a certain hormone due to a mass on my pituitary gland. It wasn't cancerous and didn't need surgery. I took some meds and the mass went away. Doctors are there to help you. If it takes going to 20 before you find one that will help, do it!! Don't be scared. I'm sure it's nothing!!

Your county health department would be a good option for you. It's confidential and free for most people.

You can miss a period for years if you are to thin, eat some odd foods, hormones are off, worry to much even. A good friend of mine didn't have her period all through high school she was on some champion softball team and she was always trying to gain weight which was hard because she was on this team that practiced 24/7. I have a few friends that jog and will go months without theirs. Usually if there is something terribly wrong with you you will bleed all the time. But you need to go find out. Make a list, find a new DR and make him listen to you. You have the right to be healthy.
