Once you start puberty a white and/or clear discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning, it means your hormones are working. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

Different types of infections:

Signs of yeast infections:
White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching

Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

Signs of trichomoniasis
A watery, yellowish or greenish bubbly discharge
An unpleasant odor
Pain and itching when urinating
Most apparent after your period

Ew!

It means that you are probably going to be getting your period soon. As long as there is no itching and the discharge doesn't have an abnormal smell it is normal. Wear panty liners to help keep your panties clean and change them frequently. Don't be embarrassed, it happens to all women.

This is totally normal. The discharge means that your vagina is healthy and normal. Don't worry about that at all :)
You will always have it, but if it turns a dark brown colour you may have an infection. A white or creamy yellow colour is normal.
If you have a lot of discharge, you may want to use thin pantyliners to absorb it, but you don't have to.
Your mum will understand, just tell her you were embarrassed and she'll help you out :)
Good luck!

Simply put, its just what keeps the vagina lubricated, its yeast. Its something that stays your whole life. If it starts to smell really bad or gets thick like cottage cheese, than you might have a yeast infection (usually it hurts...burning and itching). You're fine.

It's a bodily fluid that increases when a female starts puberty and it is normal.
It's always been there, just like other fluids, except the hormones are taking control now as the changes in your body are advancing towards becoming a woman.
You will probably start your period soon.

Daily vaginal discharge is totally normal, and it's going to last for pretty much the rest of your life. It's part of being a woman. It's your vagina's way of keeping itself clean and moist - like how your nose makes snot, your mouth has saliva, and your ears make ear wax. If you don't like getting your undies all yucky, wear pantyliners - it's what they were invented for.

You get quite a bit of discharge in the year or so leading up to your first period, and after that the amount and consistency of the discharge will vary a lot during the month.

You will get lots of clear discharge during ovulation - almost 30 times more than you'd have just after your period - sometimes it looks and feels like someone just dumped a whole pile of raw egg white in your undies.

So raw egg white is a normal constency, so is runny, or thickish creamy milky, clear is normal, white, or yellowish is normal. Brown and brownish black is pretty normal, especially around your period. Grey, or green discharge is a sign that you have a bacterial infection, so you should see a doctor, same if it smells bad down there. It normally smells slightly like vinegar.

If you get really itchy down there and get discharge that is really thick, and maybe lumpy and smells a bit like baking bread, then you have a yeast infection. The first time that happens, see a doctor, but once you know what to look for you can get treatment for that over the counter at a pharmacy.
