I had a physical and my doctor said there were traces of blood in my urine...?!

Question: I have to go and get another urine test, this time to have sent to the lab, and while my doctor said it most commonly is an infection, I'm still worried. I asked about cancer and he said no and I think the worst but I'm still thinking the worst and am scared! Anyone else (female) have this...and it's not that time of the month? I can't see the blood at all and he said I wouldn't be able to.

Some people just have blood in their urine when they stand up. Honest. It's called orthostatic hematuria. The problem is you have to rule out everything else. Kidney stones, kidney and bladder cancer, kidney infection, bladder infection.

In the case of orthostatic hematuria, if you were tested before standing up - in the AM before you get out of bed, after sleeping all night - there wouldn't be any.
SO, it may be an infection or just simply - nothing. Don't sweat it.

The most possible cause for traces of Blood in Urine is Kidney / Urinary track infection. You should do urine analysis / culture and take appropriate antibiotic. Another possible cause is Kidney stone. This can be ruled out by Sonography, but in case of Kidney stone there would have been other symptoms like Pain.
