not as easy as that hon - IBS symptoms tend to vary from person to person, so what's good for one person, could really make another IBS sufferer feel ill.

u will probably get a lot of people saying that u need to eat plenty of Fibre when u have IBS. this is not always the case. i have had IBS for about 7 years now, and i find that too much fibre makes me loads worse. i have to stay clear of wholemeal bread / pasta, beans, root vegetables, caffeine and alcohol. the only way for u to find out what suits u is through trial and error. make a note of what u eat each day, and how your IBS behaves. if u find that a certain type of food triggers it, for instance, peanuts, then cut them out of your diet - or certainly reduce your intake.

one thing that i found helped me a lot was taking a pro-biotic vitamin called Multi Bionta. it's far more effective than those little yoghurt drinks (like yakult). it helps digestion - which is particularly helpful if your IBS keeps making u dash for the toilet.

good luck hon - i know IBS is literally a pain in the @rse, but u get used to what u can and can't have over time.

all these foods can irritate IBS it's just a case of see what works for you

its not what you eat with IBS its how much and how often,i eat smaller meals more regularly and it keeps it under control, avoid pizzas and fatty foods,oh and eat slowly ,dont ever rush your meals.

they will give similar effects, however, I would say that pasta is better just cos your likely to eat less of it as it takes up more room on a plate (though potatoe is lower in caories -you mentioned "less fat").

If you have really bad IBS you should really be stearing clear of wheat and salt and stuff which can irritate it, try specialiality foods such as "free from..." and "food doctor" and stuff specially without wheat in it.

In terms of bread, pasta and spuds, all the same, no real big difference, just depends on how much you eat.

I suffer with I B S from time to time and always have since a young age. It's not always what you eat that causes this, it's a nervous condition that you need to get treated for with some form of medication... I find Kaolin and Morphine mixture which comes in a bottle, helps me. It's a white liquid substance and it can help with this condition but really you need to see a doctor . You may need something else from your doctor to help...

Don't eat bread.Yeast is bad and fattening.Try jacket potatoes
with a small tin of soup for filling.Pasta is ok as is fish and greens.

Some say starch can irritate. Best to try a little and see if you can tolerate them. Rice is good, but you will need to check all foods and keep a diary as ever body is different.

I have seen recently that dairy might be a problem. Try soya milk as this is soothing for the gut.

You can get anti spasmodic tabs from your doc which you take just before a meal.

Try eating curries and lots of chillies with prunes for pudding.

Consult with a gastro-intestinal doctor. You may need more fiber. If that is the case, try the chocolate flavored Citrocel that you can mix with milk. It tastes like chocolate milk and Citrocel will not give you excess gas and make your tummy hurt.
