I am so scared!!!!!! Please help me!!!!!!?!

Question: Well, I have had an irregular period for the last 2 years almost (it comes and goes every 6-7 months) and i think it is starting to get regular but that's not my problem. My problem is that this is only my 2nd "regular" (or not) period (I've had many irregular ones) and it is extremely heavy. I can't wear a pad for more than 2 hours or so. I couldn't even go to school today because it is so bad. The other irregular periods I had only lasted maybe 12 hours to 24 hours and they were very light and barely noticeable. The other regular period I had was light, but longer than the other ones, and not heavy at all. And yesterday I had really bad cramps but I don't have them today.

I am 13 years old, and I am a virgin. What is wrong with me????????????????????

This is normal. Your body hasn't settled into the normal rythem it's going to follow for the rest of your life. If you're using panty liners, you're going to need something that can hold a lot more fluid (a liner isn't like a real pad).

Talk to your mother or sisters for advice. If you're cramps are too bad and your flow is too heavy, you can go to the doctor and get birth control prescribed to help regulate your period, lighten the flow and lesson the cramps.

See a doctor if you're still worried.

If you are filling a pad in an hour or around that time, you need to go to the emergency room.

I had a similar problem but not as bad & that is what they informed me a few days ago to do! Good luck!

Call your doctors office and see what they suggest or a planned parenthood, they give great advice

Don't worry, your so young that it's probably just trying to get regular. I have had cramps that come and go and I've had a period for like 5 years now. Can you talk to your mom about it? Or a sister or anyone? Nothing is wrong with you, you just need to relax and talk to someone who you can explain things to and I bet they would be able to explain whats going on with your body better than anyone on here could. Since those people could actually hear you and things like that. They would know how you feel and what your worries are. I'm sure nothing is wrong or anything, hope this helped a little. God Bless

dont worry youre still really young. just talk to someone. maybe see your doctor, it doesnt ahve to be in the ER. try to relax

Your irregular but you should have a doctor check you especially if your so bleeding that you feel weak or dizzy.
Talk to your Mom, an aunt or some other close family member, about this maybe its normal for them too.

When I was your age, I had similar problems. My Dr put me on thyroid and it straightened right up. It's probably just that your hormones are out of whack. Thyroid or birth control pills could help straighten things out, but you need to get your mom to take you to the Dr.

Some people just have heavier periods than others. I soak through an overnight pad in a couple of hours on my heaviest days. Since you're not used to having a period, it may seem even worse because of that. Also, since you're only 13, I think that your body is just adjusting to having a period. It may even out after you have them every month for awhile. It's probably so heavy because you haven't had one in awhile, so your endometrial lining is very thick, which will make the bleeding heavy. I wouldn't recommend going to the doctor unless the really heavy bleeding lasts longer than 5 days. If you are feeling dizzy, it may be due to low iron because of the heavy bleeding. I have to take iron supplements during my period sometimes.
