Bleeding from the pill?!

Question: I have been on the pill for about 3 years now. I missed a pill and didn't really notice (so it could've been earlier this week or could've been two weeks ago) until a couple of days ago so I went ahead and took two as that is what my doctor had always said to do in this situation. However, ever since then, I've had mild bleeding and spotting with cramps. Have I just confused my body or could I be pregnant? I am sexually active but nothing exceptionally active by far (perhaps twice this past month - so this seems weird to me). Thanks for any help!

It was probably just breakthrough bleeding. As I understand, when you take bcp's your body relies on that for it's hormones and when you don't get that tiny dose of hormones it throws your whole cycle out of whack. Sit down with a calendar and try to figure if you when you had sex in case you need to know later. And until after your period and you start a new pack entirely, use a back-up method just to feel safer. Then just wait and see how your period is, or if you're too anxious about it, make an appt. with your doctor. They can do a blood test that tells you earlier than a urine test can.

Good luck =)

Depends on where you are in your cycle of course. Chances are, you probably just confused your body. If you missed your period, get a pregnancy test to be sure.
When you miss a pill, you should only take two pills the on next day after the missed pill, not when you realize it a week later. By then, doubling up does no good.
Your pills should come with some little booklet to describe what to do with missed pills, and other information, but it depends on how your pharmacy prepared your prescription. Some pharmacy employees toss this out, assuming that you wont read it anyway. Next time you get a refill, check that you get some info too, or just ask for it.
