It's cervical mucus. It's designed to help sperm survive as long as possible in the vagina so there's more chance som will be there when you release an egg. It's not the vagina cleaning itself out... if it were, you would have had it before you hit puberty. You could have the cleanest vagina in the world and still get cervical mucus. It's a sign that your reproductive system is working like it should, so don't worry about it.
The vagina cleaning itself out is just a story that moms told their daughters instead of, "oh, that's your vagina making itself a good place for sperm" and a lot of them actually believed it and continue to tel their daughters and etc. Some are smart enough to do research on their own and find out what it's really for.
as long as your not irritated down there it sounds normal.
