Are tampons with plastic applicators bad for the environment?!

Question: I'm almost sure they are, but are there any that biodegrade/recycle better than others?

Answers: I'm almost sure they are, but are there any that biodegrade/recycle better than others?

Most plastics do not biodegrade or can be easily recycled. That's just the nature of most plastics as a material, they are moulded and set for a specific form and after that they can't be changed easy or economically.

There are some uses for some recycled plastics and there are bioplastics that break down if they are not in an airless landfill.

The plastic applicators are not biodegradable so they are not really environmentally friendly but they are not a terrible menace either.

Plastic applicators don't take up much landfill space. If you think about the size and consider that they are highly compressed to about the side ot a match when they go into the landfill it is clear that all of the plastic applicators used every year in America are just not going to take up much space.

For what it's worth cardboard applicators don't break down quickly in a landfill environment either.

I started my period last year and I have used tampons with plastic applicators from the start. I feel comfortable about it. :)

p.s. BTW I also use cloth pantiliners. They are better for the environment and healthier for women. And feel very comfy :)

i think cardboard applicators would biodegrade easier... hope i helped.

I'm sorry but i don't use those dangerous things,,,wouldn't have a clue sorry..

They aren't good

they aernt all that good but i likr them and also if you get the card board ones wet theyre useless cos of there paper wrapper, but with plastic the outside just gets wet!and i useed them since my period started!
