Period pains in an 8 year old.?!

Question: my daughter is 8 years old and has started developing little buds, today she started complaining that her breasts were very sore,i explained that it was normal and explained about them developing etc.this evening she burst into tears and when i asked what was wrong she said she had a tummy pain and showed me where it hurt.it was right above her pubic bone exactly where period pain strikes.she looked a bit swollen and was crying with it.i gave her some calpol and a hot water bottle and she laid on the sofa.she said it was coming and going and explained it to be just like a period pain.

tell me this cant be right at 8 years old.it concerns me because i have endometriosis and its hereditry, but would it also cause a child to start early if its been passed on?

im so worried for her.please put my mind at rest.

It can occur in 8 year olds, but together with the breast buds you are describing a condition called precocious puberty. The is a significant condition, which requires her to be referred by her GP to see a paediatric endocrinologist. The currently approved hormone treatment is with drugs called LHRH analogs. The main problem with this condition is that growth stops pathologically early.

maybe she is going through purberty did she have her period yet?

Its very possible that she could be getting her period espicially now a days. With all the weird chemicals they have in milk and everything else that helps increase the risk of getting your period earlier. If I were you I would take her to a doctor just in case, becuase you don't want it to be worse then it is.

Good Luck!

It Is Posssible She is Having Her Period. Some have it when they are 6!!! Others when they are 18... they're is a wide range. =) I Hope she feels better!!!!!

maybe you should bring her to the doctor so that they could tell you exactly whats wrong. or maybe she just has a terrible stomach ache. or maybe shes just getting her period really early.

I dont think she should be swallon but breast pain is normal
it means her breast are starting to develop which can take
A few years, I would take her to her doctor and have
her belly looked at.

It can begin as young as that. She may also be getting ready to have her period. I and my middle daughter were this way. Give her Tylenol and as you said a heating pad.

A lot of little girls are going through puberty at a much younger age. Go to the docs and they actaully have meds they can give your daughter to delay her periods coming this early. Look into it.

it is unusall for 8 yr old to start a period but the sypmtoms are so very similar.

i would take doc's advice to be on safe side.

I got my period when I was 9, I suggest you explain to her what it is BEFORE she gets it. It's truly not a bad thing, trust me. If you are very worried, take her to the doctor. If things get unbearable take her to the doctor A.S.A.P. it may NOT be her period and something else!

well now a days every thing is coming faster and every thing so that may as well to. 8 years old does sound very young.i got mine at the age of 14.if she is a bit heavyer then other little girls at her age then that may be a reason that she is getting it so young.

early puberty is quite common now . my 10 year old niece has been going through it for about 3 years now.

young people are having their periods earlier and earlier..

sadly for your daughter, 8 is relatively common.. i wouldn't personnally worry too much about it.

however as you have endometriosis yourself you obviously know the symptoms to look out for (for example if this pain gets very bad, abnormal fatigue or her period very heavy).. just keep an eye/ear out.

When I was working at camp, one of my 8 year old campers had her period for the first time. So it is possible. I hope for her sake that its not though.

yes it is very possible mots cow meat has hormones in it and really any other things from cows such as milk, yogurt, cheese, ect. you still need to take her to a doctor to see exactly. good luck hope she feels better

It's normal (though not common) for girls to start having periods at eight years old. One major factor is body weight, so if she's tall for her age that is the most likely reason.

Although early menarche (starting periods) can be associated with endometriosis, and although there can be heretitory factors to endometriosis, your daughter's early menarche doesn't mean she will inevitably have the condition, or that you have passed it on to her. It just means she's at a slightly increased risk of developing it later. But she might also never develop it.

Do you feel able to celebrate with her this beginning of her journey into adulthood? I know it seems early, but maybe it's a bit exciting too...

I hope that helps a bit.

8 years old is on the young end of things. i would recommend speaking to your family physician. girls have being starting puberty younger and younger because of better health and nutrition. i once read in a study that the onset of one's period had been linked to the presence of one or two parents! genetics and race have also been thought to play a role.

i think is a little early to be celebrating her start into womanhood. she is mentally still a child and should be treated as any other. i would prepare her with the facts and provide the encouragement and support she probably will not get from her peers.

see your doctor

the same thing has happenedto my 8 year old neice so my sister took her to the hospital and they said she had a water infection so dont worry about it just take her to the doctors on monday and i bet everythink will be ok xx
