Can i leave nuvaring in?!

Question: I started the nuvaring and I took it out at three weeks and had my period a few day later. Can I leave the ring in for four weeks and then change right to a new one and not have a period? I've heard of doing this, but i'm not sure if you can actually do it..

If you are trying to skip a period, you still need to take the first one out at 3 weeks. The hormones run out after that so you would run the risk of getting pregnant during that extra week you have it in. If you Md allows it, when you take out the first one, put a new one in. That way the hormones are constant.

You will need to ask your Md for a new prescription. Otherwise you will run out of them and your insurance won't pay for them. As right now, your insurance will cover 36-40 weeks of treatment. If your Md rewrote the prescription for no break between, your insurance will cover all 52 weeks.

Nope, gotta only leave it in 3 weeks, then put in a new one. I have been doing this since right after nuva ring came out. I have had a couple instances of spotting, (usually every 6-8 months), but then I just leave it out for a week, have a period and start over again.
Good luck!
