Why are so many young girls having unprotected sex?!

Question: Every few minutes another question is posted saying "Am I pregnant?" Are these girls really that stupid? Surely they have been told about sexually transmitted diseases.

Actually, most schools aren't really teaching sex ed. They are teaching abstinence only education programs. These don't give accurate information about different birth control options. In fact, they often claim many forms (such as condoms) are highly ineffective... which lead many young people to just skip it all together.

Most parents done do the job, either. They may not feel comfortable talking about sex with their kids or think they won't need to know yet. Either way, the kids aren't getting the right info.

A recent survey found that only approx 60% of all high schoolers use some form of birth control every time they have sex. Something is seriously wrong there.

Because they are young dumb and stupid.

Even older adults are doing it too. They dont think in the heat of the moment.

They shouldn't be having sex in the first place.

Either they're uneducated or they're just ignorant

Kids are dumb

they probably did, then they went home and watched MTV for 5 hours and forgot all about it.

Because it's cool to get pregnant or get a STD.

I think so many girls really ARE that stupid, and some just want attention. Most kids know about sexually transmitted diseases, but they mistakenly believe "that only happens to dirty people", or "people from the other side of town". They never think it can happen to girls name Misty who live in a nice subdivision and their soccer mom drives them to piano lessons every week.

heat of the moment?
don't think pregnancy will happen to them?
attention?

i agree. They want to act grown up by having sex, unprotected at that, and then they start worrying about being pregnant. I have no remorse for young girls that put themselves in this situation. God forbid if they were raped its not the victim's fault and my heart goes out to them but if the girl knows the guy isnt wearing a condom and shes not on birth control, then she should live with the consequences. You play you pay.

well some are just stupid...some are just sleeping around.
however there are others who are actually trying to get pregnant.
either way, theyre just wanting to know if theyre preg or not. we shouldnt judge them for what they do. theyll learn later.

they are young and stupid they think its cool but its not

Because no one teaches them morals or have raised them in the best environment. In my old high school now (I'm a freshman in college) we have nothing but whores in George Wythe, because they think it's okay to have 10+ guys. They think it makes them attractive. It's the norm, they don't know any better and have no respect for themselves.

Just to add and agree to the "Condom" comments, no, they don't like the feel of condoms, but complain about the feel of morning sickness and a life in their underdeveloped bellies as well. Choose one, morning sickness and 40 pounds of pregnancy, or a condom that has many varieties? It's your life girls.

Alas, this is the state of our cultural, where sex is now considered only a form of entertainment, something casual...This, along with education standards being flushed down the drain, make for a horrible mix.... commonly referred to as a ****.

yes but not all of them are young! i think they just worry themselves because they don't really know what they're doing and they're not on the pill they're just relying on a condom and then they freak out because they know they shoudln't have trusted it on it's own! or they trust they're boyfriends too much and believe them when they say i will pull out ect, young girls just trying to impress boys i suppose don't forget alcohol and drugs has a big part to play too

i dont think that they intend toooo......

no unfortunatly they are not well educated, parents dont preach to their kids the about the birds and bees and like to turn a blind eye to the fact that their kids may be sexual active. And look at the womens health kids are asking other's about birth control pills instead of doctors? What if the people responding don't have the right answers?

Many people dislike condoms because they find them uncomfortable. Also, birth control are hormones that are terrible for your natural balance.

Many people also falsely believe in "rhythm" birth control techniques. I know highly intelligent, educated women who quirkily enough somehow believe that they won't get pregnant by following the rhythm. Let's see what happens.

Perhaps it wasn't planned. Perhaps theres not enough sex education. Could be alcohol-related. A lot of people don't like the feel of condoms aswell.

I guess there's a few answers in there. No need to judge these people. Everyone makes mistakes, gets a little caught up in the moment, you know.

Chances are that you or someone you know came about as a result of such an incidence.

DUMBASSES

Sex education is NOT what it should be, the schools are not teaching kids about protection, they are only telling them not to have sex...but we know how kids listen=)

I learned about condoms when I went to school, learned how to put one on (on someone else of course) and learned about birth control. My school didn't treat sex like it was something you couldn't talk about, if you had a question, you asked and someone would answer...regardless. I grew up in the country and we saw what happened when you had sex (lots of farms, lol) One girl in my class became pregnant her senior year...the rest of us knew better! She was the only one in my 4 years of high school that got pregnant.

We need better sex ed in school...if the parents aren't going to do it then someone needs to!

The media images on screen/video/ and magazines.
Now that the younger Spears is preggers...what is there to do??

i think it is a lack of good sex education. in the states, some schools only teach kids to not have sex. there is no talk of birth control, condoms, stds... it's pretty sad, naive and totally messed up. countries in europe tend to have lower teen pregnancy rates and better access to birth control...

we need to educate people about their options, how else are they going to be able to make responsible choices???

The truth is they want A baby !! or some people think they
have more pleasure without A comdom.
