It might, however it might not. Since it would be only a week into the very first pack you take, it might not work. Pills need to take at least a pill pack or two to get your body used to the hormones. You might still get your period.

Just take tampons and midol and have a great time!

Don't let your period control what you do.

If you want to skip your period this month just start on the next pill pack and forget about the placebo's. It doesn't do any harm to skip a period every now and again.

instead of having the 7 day break you can just take the next pack but i wouldnt do it any other way as it can mess it up altogether

the pill technically stops your period altogether and instead you have "withdrawl bleeds" from the hormone being taken away. However, if this is your first time taking the pill and you're not yet on your period it takes 7 days to take a proper effect so is not guaranteed to stop your period.
You can always run two packs together in a month instead of having your 7 day break and this will stop you bleeding in between packs. BUT! I wouldn't recomend doing this more than once without a break as it can make your withdrawl bleed more painful!
Hope this helps :)
