Lost tampon?!

Question: so...this is embarrassing...but i have a lost tampon....well its not lost...its stuck. and i can feel it...but cant get it out.
i read most people say go to the doctor and i found other websites say you can take it out urself with a mirror and then i read by like putting water inside there, to fill up the tampon with water, and it should come out by itself by gravity....will that really work? im scared to go to doctor..and i wouldnt like it to be in me much longer. so im just trying get it out.....

I like this website's instructions the best:

"1. Thoroughly wash your hands. This prevents introducing outside bacteria into the vagina. Ideally, the woman would also have short nails, and no open cuts on her fingers.

2. Remove any tampons that still have a string hanging out.

3. Bear down. Sit on the toilet. Grab a wastepaper basket or something that is about 12 inches high. Put the feet up on it. Bear down like when having a bowel movement or pushing out a baby. This can push the tampon down.

3. Then gently insert one finger inside yourself. Use a mirror at first, if there is trouble finding the opening. Most women start with the index finger, but she should use the middle if she cannot reach very far in.

4. Reach in as far as possible. A woman knows she has reached the end of the vagina when she feels her cervix. The cervix is a cartilaginous tissue that feels like the tip of the nose. A woman can push in slightly, so that her knuckle tents the tissue of the vulva a bit, without causing discomfort or damage. She can bear down at the same time.

5. Sweep. Make a circular and back and forth motions with the finger. The cevix is like an upside down bowl at the end of the tube (vagina). The vagina is like a tube around the edge. Try to sweep the space between the rim of the bowl (cervix) and the start of the tube (vagina). This is where crammed in tampons tend to get stuck. More get stuck towards the edge nearest the back.

5. Finding One. If your finger runs into a tampon, come out. Insert two fingers (ones next to each other, of course) and trap the tampon between them."

If you can't retrieve it in 10 minutes, it's time to see the doctor.
Don't get too scared though, unless the tampon has been lost for a couple weeks you stand a fighting chance against infection. If it is possible, tell your mom or a trusted female. Even if they are not actually hands-on they can guide you through it. If you do end up at the doctor's, remember they are very experienced and will know just how to do it right.

You need to try to get it out yourself by doing what you already suggested, or you need to see a doctor ASAP. You can get seriously sick if it stays in there too long.

i have never heard about the gravity thing, but just go to the doctor, it would definitely be the safest and fastest way. They do this thing more than you think, don't worry.

just stick your fingre in there in get it. lol

going to the doctor would be the safetest way. and the quickest. id prefer you go to the doctor, that way you dont risk a chance of getting TSS

sweety if it doesn't come out then you should go to the dr.

you just have to keep trying untill u get it out this is really serious you need it out NOW keep trying and if you cant get it out go to the emergency room and then sue the tampon compony you could tss if you dont get it out soon and that is rele bad

You should be able to reach in and grab it...it can't go anywhere, but if it is out of reach, I wouldn't wait to long. A tampon left in too long can cause serious health risks, including infection and toxic shock syndrome.

One other thing you can try, is sitting on the toliet, and trying to push, like your trying to poo. that sometimes pushes them out (unless it's really stuck the wrong way)

let us know what worked incase it happens to someone else (i did, but i was able to reach it)

OK, first, relax. Have you done that? OK. Now, find a comfortable position, and get a mirror. With clean hands (stress the word CLEAN), reach two finger up there and feel for the string. Grab it, pull, and it should come out. Do not do the water thing. You don't need to go to your doctor. Just be careful, clean, and calm. The three C's of removing a lost tampon. It will be fine.

best bet go see a dr you could develope toxic shock sydrom and die

But... I thought you put it on your underwear.
