Has anyone here had a minera coil fitted?!

Question: Hi

I went to my doctors for heavy periods and really bad PMS. I actually feel like its taking over my life, I have to try to plan things round about this time of the month. Each time I'm invited to a do or anything my heart hits the floor if I realise its at this time cos I know I find it really hard to enjoy myself and would rather lie on the couch at home in my jammies and shut myself off to the world.
Anyway, the doc advised that I should get the minera coil fitted as this could stop the bleeding altogether, and it also helps with PMS. I dont need it for contraceptive as my husband has had a vasectomy.
I have read so may bad reviews from women who have had this done and I'm feeling a bit anxious.
Should I refuse it?
I also suffer from fybroids and ovarian cysts.

Wow. We have a lot in common. I also suffer from cysts and have a huge fibroid. I've had the Mirena coil, and I don't recommend it. It actually made my bleeding worse. I bled nonstop for over 4 months before it was removed. E-mail me if I can give you more personal advice - it's hard to here! I've been through it all!
BTW - I'm interested in how you cope with your fibroids, I don't know any one else that has one.

Give it a go, I have one fitted, and at first [6mths] it didn't do alot, but now I can tell the difference, I still bleed for 3 weeks out of 4, but thats better than bleeding for ever. It just took forever for it to settle down and do something thats all. My moods are so much better also, I don't throw things at my hubby anymore! Hope that this helps you.

I had one fitted four years ago and love it. No more periods. I bleed 3-4 times a year, and it's really just spotting. No PMS symptoms either. You need to do some research. Talk to another doc if you can, for a second opinion. You must be miserable. I hope you can find a solution.
