Question about vaginal thrush? Answers from women who have suffered from this a !

Question: I'm 16 and I've had thrush on and off for the last couple of years.
Ocassionaly it has been really horribly itchy but most of the time it's just low-key but always there.

I always go to the doctor and get given fluconzale tablets and I've sometimes been given cream which hasn't been as effective.

The thrush has cleared up a few times after the treatment but even if it does it always comes back.

I have don't have a boyfriend, I have had a couple of blood tests for diabetes (but hasn't come to anything) and smear tests over the past few years.

I also wear cotton pants, eat natural yoghurt, wash with soap and water and eat lots of fruit and vegetables etc

I will be going to the doctor next week because I took a tablet last week and it hasn't cleared up. My doctor says that I may be refered to a specialist

Is it normal to have constant low-key thrush? Is there anything else I can do?

Please only give helpful, serious answers. Thanks.

This sounds exactly like me too.
I am 28, and have had this since i was 20, when i had my 1st child.
I have been to the docs, and they recommended me to change my diet, to cut out all foods containing yeast, and limit all sweet food, as the bacteria that causes thrush feeds on sugar(thats why they tested you for diabetes). so, no bread, sweet foods, alcohol etc for me!
I also notice that a few days before my period, it always gets worse too.
Oh, and DONT wash around your vagina with soap and water because this will make the thrush get worse, just use plain water.
Good luck, and i will be keeping an eye on this question for what people are saying.
a star for you!!!

Don't they have a single pill you can take it it sorts out thrush. They used to advertise it in the UK. Maybe it didn't work I do not know.

wipe from front to back

DO wash your anis when you shower, and rinse well

avoid sugary foods and processed foods

avoid yeast risen breads and pastries

avoid beer

take acidophilus supplements

avoid fruit juices as they contain lots of natural sugar...it is better to eat the whole fruit

if you wet your panties easily, wear liners that breathe and change them often

just as soon as you think you have a yeast infection coming on, saturate the end of a tampon with tea tree oil and insert it...wear it thru the night

avoid excessive vinegar intake...excessive acid consumption can alter your body's PH level making you vulnerable to systemic yeast proliferation

Has your doctor had you take a dose of Diflucan once a month for three months? That might clear up your infection.

Do you take an asthma inhaler or frequent doses of antibiotics? This can predispose you to yeast infections.

Frequent yeast infections can also be a sign of diabetes. Get tested for that.

It's not normal to have a constant yeast infection. Good luck.
