1. It may hurt a little bit the first few times, because your vaginal muscles will stretch a tiny bit, but it gets easier the more you use them.
2. No, it shouldn't leak if you make sure to change the tampon every 3-4 hours (I know, the box says 5-6, but it's better to err on the side of changing them sooner rather than later.)
3. I do a lot of sports, and I like Playtex Sport tampons, but for your first tampon, I'd pick something made for teenagers; Playtex Slimfits are good, and very skinny. Tampax also makes a Slim kind that work as well.
4. You may get some blood on yourself-it helps to wipe before you put it in to make the area is clean, but you still could get some on you. No big deal, just wipe your hands off with toilet paper when you're done (so you don't get any on your pants when pulling them up) and then go wash your hands in the sink.

When inserting it, make sure you're standing in a comfortable position, like with your legs slightly spread, or with one foot resting on the toilet lid/seat-both of these are common positions when putting a tampon in. There are only 2 holes down there that a tampon could fit in (the vagina and the...other place :) ), and if it goes in the wrong hole, you will know it! Trust me. Tampons also come with instructions-that may help a little. Also, don't try to put one in for the first time right before swim practice-try it the night before at home, where you've got time and space to learn how the thing works and how it goes in.

Honey, I know it's embarassing, but your best bet would be to ask your mom. I'm assuming she knows you joined swim team, which should make it obvious that you need to learn to use tampons. She can help you get the correct tampons, tell (or show, if you're comfortable with that) you how to use them, and just provide guidance on the whole matter.

You need to get over your embarrassment and go and talk to your mum, she was once a kid, she will understand.

I tryed using one wen i was gonna go swimming, but I got freaked out and cryed... :( good luck

If you can stay relaxed, it will not hurt. You might need to work on it a few times before you get it right. If you're pushing and pushing on it and it's not going in, you need to point it more towards the back of your body. Get the brand with the smooth plastic applicators! Yes insertion might be messy depending on various factors. It shouldn't leak unless your flow is very heavy and you've had it in for too long (more than a few hours). Hope this helps.

New things are always scary, but vaginas are designed for things to go into and out of them, so a tampon is really nothing. Millions of women use them every day. so they can't be that bad.

1. It can hurt the first couple of times you put it in, usually just because you aren't too sure of what you are doing.
2. It shouldn't leak if put in correctly. It might leak if it too full and you have a heavier flow.
3. I like tampax pearl, it has a diagram on how to put it in correctly and the applicator will help you not get blood on yourself when you insert it. the sport one might work well for you too.
4. make sure tampons have the applicator.

It might be awkward at first, but mom's kind of expect you to ask such questions, you are growing up in to woman hood. If not, you could ask an older cousin or friend. Good luck!

1. No, it doesn't hurt as long as you do it right.
2. Only if you don't change it often enough.
3. It's a personal preference, but for your purposes you might want to try a brand such as Playtex Sport, which is especially made for girls on the move.
4. You may get it on your hands, or you may not. Always wash your hands after inserting it, just as you should after you go to the bathroom anyway.

Don't worry. Using tampons for the first time can be scary. Everything will work out fine. If you need help inserting it, read
the directions on the inside of the box or ask a friend you know who uses tampons.

ok, i was freaked out the first time i used a tampon too.
1. no, if you put it in right (aim kinda up)
2. no, if you're worried (and not swimming) use a panti liner thing
3.brand doesn't matter, it's size (go slim if it's your first time)
4. no, if you have the type with an inserter, which most have. but wash your hands anyway

there are also instructions inside the box. the first time you use one, wait until you're having a light day just for practice.

It depends on what kind of inserter you use, which depends on the brand. I use Tampax Pearl because they have plastic inserters and they are a lot more comfortable than cardboard inserters. It depends on how much you're bleeding if it leaks, but no, it shouldn't. Again, I like the Tampax Pearl the best. No, you shouldn't get blood on yourself, but if you do, just wash it off. It's not a big deal.

Playtex or Tampax makes a brand of tampons for younger girls that are slim-fit. I would recommend those, and as long as you don't force the tampon in, it will not hurt. It will not leak if you change your tampon regularly (3-4 hours), and usually you will not get blood on yourself changing. The only way it might get messy is if you wait too long to change your tampon and it gets oversoaked. Don't worry, there's nothing to be scared about.

relax sweets
It shouldn't hurt
it won't leak unless is is saturated (takes 4-8 hrs to get saturated)
Tampex pearl is the best to start on
you might get a little blood on ya just remember to wipe really well before inserting it,
the box will have directions in it with pictures and everything.

I was really scared to use it too (i got my period on vacation) I only used tampons that 1 time when i was on vacation because i dont like using them but their not that bad...
1. No it doesnt hurt
2.It does not leak
3. i tried a couple brands but Playtex sport is definetly best
4.If you use abrand with an applicator than no your probably wont get blood on yourself but if you use abrand where you ahve to insert the tampon with your finger then you probably will
If you really want to swim than use tampons, you dont even notice their in i just dont use them cuz its easier to use pads. Just tell your mom you want to swim and have your period, im sure shell understand and dont be embarrased
I hope I helped!

Oh, honey, you're breaking my heart. Calm down, okay? There's nothing to be scared of.

1. It will feel a little odd,but it shouldn't hurt.

2. It WILL leak (bummer, I know) but change it every few hours (depending on your flow) and I would suggest wearing a pantyliner until you figure out how often you need to change it.

3. Any brand is fine but use soft tipped tampons...not hard cardboard...those CAN be a little uncomfortable putting them in.

4. You might get a little blood on your fingers but it's no big deal. Just wash your hands with soap and also make sure your private area is clean before you pull your underwear back on.

There's nothing to be scared of. Tampons are great...they will give you so much more freedom than pads and trust me, once you use them, you will never go back to pads.

You should never be embarrassed about asking your mom; she went through the same thing you did and believe me, she's waiting for you to ask...it's a kind of special bond mothers and daughters have.

Best wishes, sweetheart.

I know it's hard, but you need to be able to talk to your mother about this stuff. She was your age once too, so as scary as it seems, she understands. It might hurt the first few times because you're getting used to it, but eventually it probably won't be bad. Sometimes they leak if they aren't in right or your period is really really heavy, and I couldn't tell you which brand is best because I don't use them, I prefer to just not swim and use pads. You might get blood on your hand, depending on how heavy your period is. On tampon boxes, they have instructions, and you could always google it.
Hope I could be of some help, good luck. :)

You really should talk to your mom about this, but...

No it won't hurt if you are doing it correctly (again ask your mom how). Remember some day a baby will come out of there...the vaginal canal is a very stretchy tissue and a tampon isn't much larger than your finger.

They shouldn't leak as long as you are changing them at the appropriate time and using the right absorbency (again ask mom). If you are really worried about leakage, there are pantyliners.

I don't think there really is a "best brand" it's all personal preference.

I don't know if you will get blood on yourself...that's why you need to talk to your mom. She can show you the correct way to do things.

Good luck, and don't be embarrassed. Your mom will probably be very happy that you came to her with this.

You need to practice tonight so it won't be brand new tomorrow.

1. No
2. If you leave it in too long
3. Playtex slender, and some KY lubricating jelly.
4. Hopefully not, but that's why the sink is there.

Follow the directions in the box, but put a little bit of KY Jelly on the applicator (it makes it slippery so the tampon will go in easily.

You have two "doorways." Move the tampon back and forth until you feel you've passed the first gate, then push it in a little more and get through the second gate.

By now your hand should be as far as it can go. Press the other part--the plunger--as far as you can get it and then throw the plastic or cardboard applicator away. There's a little string that you can pull to get it out. If you can still feel it, it's not in high enough, try it again and use KY, too.

Take care.
