How can I be sure that I have a Bartholin's Gland Cysts?!

Question: I have a bubble that is red around the outside of my vagina?
I am going to schedule a appt with the gyno, but I was just wondering how I could be sure?

If you have had one before, what exactly does it look like, or feel like?

I have had patients that have had an infected Bartholin's Gland cyst. The cysts were usually located in the lower 1/2 to 1/3 of the labia. They tended to be bigger than a pimple, and were very sore to the touch. If a Bartholin's Gland cysts isn't treated in time it can cause the labia to swell up, making it difficult to sit.
If you do have an infected cyst, your doctor may want to take you to the Operating Room for an I&D (incision and drainage). In that case, you'd go to sleep, the doctor would make a small incision, suck out any and all pus, irrigate the area, clean it up, and probably pack it with either a gauze or even put in a small drain. Then you wake up and go to the recovery room. They give you lots of pain medication, and you'd probably feel better after having the pressure of the swelling released.
If you are starting to have swelling in your labia now, you could put an ice pack on it. Sitting in a hot bath might just make it worse. Call your doctor in the morning if you think it's something other than just a pimple.
Good luck to you.
