I almost fainted!?!

Question: I almost fainted while standing talking to my husband... I was nodding and then all of the sudden I felt this wave go over me and I had to get something to drink and then I had to sit down.. this never happened before.. it scared me and felt awful.. my head still aches.

It never happened before to me. It is the week of my period., but I do not get one because I am on birth control. I had not eaten in awhile.. but at the time I was not hungry. I have since eaten something and had some water, but I do not understand what just happened. I am not anemic, which sometimes is a reason. I used to be anorexic and would go almost a day without eating and this still never happened.

Are there some possible reason why this happened.. ?

I am not pregnant!!!

Baby, if my clock is right and the time line is right.....you were talking to your husband at 2 or 3 this morning...on a school night....you were standing and nodding in agreement....and then this horrible wave went over you and you almost passed out with after effects of a headache........

Considering all that you are doing in your life, and all that is happening in your life....you need a physical....to be told that you are OK...if not that you don't need to be talking at 2 am you need to be sleeping

i gave everyone else a point because they are all valid but I think something more serious happened...you need to take an aspirin for the headache

you could of just had a warning stroke because of stress but that is why you go to the doctor to make sure there is nothing wrong with you

Blood pressure, or the loss of it....
During your week of menses your blood pressure does drop dramatically.
Thats why so many women feel tierd during that week....

More than likely your blood sugar got too low. If you were anorexic at one time your body has used up a lot of it's ability to balance out your sugars. It's really important to keep something in your stomach if you find this to be a recurring problem. Just because you don't feel hungry doesn't mean that your body isn't craving calories. If it happens again the best suggestion is to drink about 6oz of OJ... and then eat something with both protein and a small amount of carbs. This gives your body an initial sugar kick and then the protein allows for a longer lasting supply of fuel. It's also possible that you just might have done too much physical activity for the day or gotten up too quickly and the blood rushed out of your head but if you had been awhile without food I would guess you had a little hypoglycemic episode. When I get them I can feel them coming and immediately find something to boost my sugar otherwise I get ill, have a headache, and feel weak the rest of the day....

If it's something that keeps happening you might mention it to your doctor next time you go... probably no reason to make a special appt unless you are experiencing any residual effects such as one sided weakness, constant fatigue, or any "odd" symptoms....
Hope you feel better!

Along with the other answerers suggestions....

You could possibly be anemic. (low iron)
Next time you feel faint - try eating something with a high iron content. Like granola or cereal.
That often happens to me when it comes around time for my period.
