Has anyone ever actually tried a lysol vaginal douche?!

Question: I was watching Modern Marvels on the History Channel recently. This particular episode's topic was 'High Tech Sex'. They covered a whole range of subjects, all quite interesting, including contraception. They said that a long time ago, lysol was believed to prevent pregnancies if a woman douched with it. Has anyone tried it or know of anyone who has tried it?

About thirty years ago, I bought a pile of old fashion and movie magazines circa 1930-50 at a flea market. There were ads for Lysol in almost every one of them, and they weren't trying to get you to buy it to mop the floors, if you know what I mean.

Contaceptive use was not mentioned in these ads (though it could be implied, if you substitute the word "sperm" for "germ"), but apparently wives were supposed to use it for that "not-so-fresh" feeling. The ads were over-the-top, full of drama and heartache, and unintentionally hilarious in the late seventies when I read them.

Of course, now we know that douching with anything isn't effective contraception or good hygiene.

This stuff was also used for enemas. There were some odd fads about cleanliness at that time.

OMG!!! NOOOO can you just think what that would do to your insides.....no way!!!! yikessss

oh heavens no!!!
i've never tried it and i wouldnt recommend anyone try it. lysol is to kill germs and is toxic if ingested i would think it would be if you used it in your vagina too

They must have been out of their mind to try that.
