Every month an egg from your ovaries travels down the Fallopian tube (Each ovary (2) is connected to a tube (2) which connect to the uterus) During this time the uterus is collecting walls of blood to prepare for pregnancy. Once the egg reaches the uterus and realized there is no sperm then the uterus lets go of all this blood. The blood was there to help support the possible pregnancy.
Now the reality. If this is the first time you are having your period then expect it to be irregular for awhile. Expect discomfort and keep some Aleve or Midol with you at all times.
From now on you need to see a dr. too. Start going to a gyno on a regular basis.
