Can you start active pills in the middle of placebo week?!

Question: I just recently started taking birth control pills for the first time (Ortho-Cyclen). On Sunday I started taking my placebo pills. My period hasn't come yet, but I don't want it to come because I'm going away for this weekend and I don't want to be on my period. Would it matter if I start taking my active pills before finishing my placebos? And if so, is it safe to have unprotected sex or do I need to use a back up method?

Thanks in advance.

It's usually not a good idea to change your cycle around by taking the active pills during the placebo week. I've done it before though, but it's best to keep your cycle as regular as possible. But it won't kill you certainly. You might get a strange period next time around.

If you do decide to do that, definitely use a back-up method just in case because your body will be making some adjustments to your cycle.

It is okay to start active pills in a placebo week, although if you are in the middle of the week you are too far along and wil most likely get your period anyways. You should always use a condom with a new partner, or someone you don't trust 110 percent. You don't need back up however to prevent pregnancy.

Well, take all your medications ands always use safe precautions you never know what could happen or will happen!

You do not need back up if you start a new pack early.

You can TRY ad skip your period, but it may not work at all.

You could also have irregular spotting and bleeding that could last for more than a week, which is normal when you first try and skip your period.

If you start taking the pills now, you will probaby still have a period anyway because your body has had two days of time to withdraw and start breaking down the womb lining. You can take your active pills now and it won't affect the efficacy (because its just a shorter break) but you will probably get your period anyway, so you might as well just grin and bear i this time.

Why would you want to mess with your body with even more hormones? I don't like the pill anyway the hormones in the pill overwhelm our own natural hormones. I like the diaphragm as it is chemical free. If you're gonna go to a doctor, and then not listen to his/her instructions, why go?
peace
