Scarring after breast reduction?!

Question: OK I've considered a breast reduction to reduce 12DD/34DD to a C cup. I have posted a question earlier today but I forgot to ask about scarring.

Has anybody who has had breast reduction surgery still have scars? How long ago did you have the surgery? Is it permanent? Is it true that you may lose sensation in your nipples afterwards but they come back??

Many Thanks

Scarring is hardly noticeable.

A good PS and a good patient will ensure that there are no noticeable scars.

My fiance really has to look to see them.

Be sure to keep them OUT of the sun for at least a year (or until the scars turn white) or they will turn PERMANENTLY red!

Scarguard and Mederma are also great solutions to use on the scars to lighten them.

Nipple sensation can also take up to a year to come back. I got mine back in three months.

The site below is a great help and will answer all of your quesitons :)

Wow. Sorry but I'm kinda thinking about something else right now hmmmm..

You just need to strengthen your back from the waist up and shoulders. Don't you throw away that wonderful gift.

Hope this helps:
Scars
The only drawback to removing excess skin is that it necessarily causes scars. Fortunately, the scars can be limited to areas that are hidden when you are wearing a bra. In most cases, the scars are located around the nipple, below the nipple, and along the crease beneath the breast. The scars fade after surgery, but it can take years for them to do so. There are some techniques of breast reduction which may eliminate the scar along the crease, but most of these techniques are in the development stage at this time. Usually the scars are acceptable, especially when considering the benefits gained in the "quality of life" following breast reduction, but no one can guarantee that you will be pleased with your scars. If you are going to have this operation, you simply must accept the fact that you are exchanging the problem of macromastia for scars.

Nipple or breast numbness or sensory change
Numbness of the nipple or breast is fairly uncommon but it does occur in some cases. It is more likely that your nipple sensation will improve because the nerve to your nipple will no longer be stretched due to the weight of your breasts.

Nipple Loss
Having complete nipple loss is a tragic problem, because it means that one or both nipples lose their circulation and die. This also causes there to be an open wound that would require care. Eventually, the wound would close, or surgery would be necessary to close it.

If nipple loss does occur, a new nipple would then be recreated artificially by using your own skin or by simply tattooing a nipple. Nipple loss is most likely to occur in smokers, but may occur in anyone. If you smoke, you should quit at least 2-4 weeks prior to surgery to reduce your risk of this problem.

The sensation may or may not come back but you should've been told more so call and get a second opinion before calling the doctor whom did the surgery. Also steroid shots gets rid or scars. you need to find out when its ok to get that first.

WonderWoman

If you are not at LEAST 40 years old than back the truck up. You have a gift that will help you control men forever (until 40ish when they sag). Only then should you consider that treatment.

Also, if you are fat then take care of that first.

Yes, women have scars (nasty red lines) after the surgery that get a guy "unexcited" real quick. I have had to increase the alcohol level dramatically to get past the horror of scar tissue and red lines (and turn down the lights) many a monkey time.

I had reduction surgery from about your size to a c cup about 12 years ago. Yes the scarring is permanent, yes I did lose nipple sensation, which has come back, but not completely, and I could not breast feed my daughter post reduction, which I was warned about prior to the surgery. But it is the best thing I have ever done, and the scars are less noticeable as time goes on. The coMfort factor is the biggest plus, and the shopping is so much more fun !!

almost a year on , scaring is hardly noticeable. sensation is coming back around the nipple the rest will come after. good luck. :) :)
