How did you deal with your pregnancy nausea?!

Question: I have been feeling it for 2 weeks now and it's unbearable. My chest feels like it's being pressed on and I'm constantly having to cover my nose because the smell of ANY kind of food is so pungent that it makes me revolt. What can I do to easy the nausea??

I know that this is a difficult time right now, I've been through it three times (with my sons). Anyhow, try not to eat acidic foods like orange juice or things with tomatoes in them. There is a list of foods that you should and should not have right now (greasy foods, foods with tomatoes, things like that makes it worse, though white pizza [no tomato sauce] helps when you get the oil off with a napkin). the key to battling nausea is to not have an empty stomach, or a full stomach at the same time (both will ake you feel really sick). But havin an empty stomach with nausea is a no-no! Have some crackers by your bed and nibble on them before you get out of bed (only about 1 1/2 or two). Do not drink cold beverages, it may trigger vomiting. Try some hot tea or even warm water.
Also, there are these things called Peggy-pops that are sold in the Motherhood clothing store and online (BabyCenter.com). They are lollypops in flavers like ginger (which helps with nausea good). lavendar (this on really helped), orange, and other flavores. They distracted my mind from the nausea good. Keep crackers everywhere you go. It's okay to not eat right now. You may throw it up anyway and that is no fun. You may even WANT to eat but you can't for risk of getting sick...Just wait this period out (it should begin to fade in the 13th week). It is good to, also, to count down your weeks. Sometimes nausea turns off like a faucet (quickly) aound or in the 13th week and the next thing you know, you are eating more or back to normal.

Also, papaya helps reduce acid in your throat, over the counter medicine (tums, pepto bysmol [this helped a little], Pepcid AC helped a little. sometimes it made it worse if I kept taking it) Also, go to a health food store like Whole Foods and get a can of NATURAL ginger ale (it was made by real ginger root) It may be a little nasty, but it will help if you sip on this.

Also, ask people to help you to get things done so that you can rest. It is okay to do that and rest. I know that words cannot explain how difficult this it, and it may seem as if will last forever, but IT WILL PASS.

Also, keep a bucket near by precious.

One day at a time. Try pickles!

Never had it when I was preg. I would suggest talking to your doctor. Their are things in extreme cases they can provide you with,

I've never been pregnant that I know of. Try to think positive that it will NOT be forever.

try eating crackers before getting up.
then get up from the bed slowly. sit on the bed first, then dangle your feet off the bed, then stand up.

my mom told me to eat little snacks like crackers or cinimon sticks...

I didn't get any I was lucky. I was told that a plain digestive biscuit or a ginger biscuit and a cup of tea with sugar in helps

Ginger snap cookies!!! Ginger is the oldest form of anti nausa stuff. Please try it, it works well!

Keep some food next to your bed and nibble before you even get up. Don't let your stomach get completely empty while you are awake. Drink plenty of water (sips if needed).

Ginger and sour candies are great to carry with you. I loved the Altoids Sours line. They were a life saver for me. In fact, I think they have a ginger flavor!

Keep your head up! It usually gets better once you get into your second trimester. If it doesn't talk to your doctor. They can give you some more suggestions.

Keep saltine crackers at the bedside. Before you get up in the morning, eat 3-4 of them and remain still for a few minutes. Also.....when your significant other cooks, stay far away from the kitchen. I couldnt eat bacon for a year after being pregnant with my twins! That was the worst smell ever! Also, throughout the day keep your crackers near by. A cool washcloth on the forhead seems to help some too. Good luck!

Lemonade. I drank it by the gallon. Try some of those packets you just add to a bottle of water. Most are calorie-free and sugar-free and my doctor said drinking that was basically the same as drinking plain water. Anything citrusy will help. I kept a bowl of yellow and orange Starburst on my desk at work. If it gets too bad, talk to your doctor. Mine prescribed me some great medicine that kept me from throwing up all day every day and didn't make me want to sleep all the time like most nausea medicine.

Try soda crackers and water. I heard that it works.

not a lot. eat healthy foods unfortunately you cant get rid of it you jusy cope with it. Good tip is to chew gum that way smells wont always make you feel ill

keeping the air arond you cooler will help with strong oders. I found menthol to be soothing, if you get something like vicks vapor rub and put a teeny tiny dap under your nose it can help. Sipping DR Pepper helped me and so did peppermint tea. A lot of doctors reccoment something very sour, such as preggy pops, lolly pops you can get at motherhood maternity. Don't drink Orange juice or anything highly acidic and snacking on carbs like crackers and toast can help absord some of the excess HCL in your stomach.

When it gets really bad and you want to lay down, try doing it slightly elevated, like in a recliner or up on pillows, and then gradually ease your self down so that you asophagas is not suddenly horizontal.

Good luck!

Sweetie I feel you i really do i was so sick throughout my pregnancy .... I lived on tums and popsicles.... Also try to sip some hot tea it helped me there is not much u can do but the good news is it usually only lasts through the 1 trimester however if its so bad that u are unable to eat any thing and cannot gain weight u should talk to ur doctor.... concentrate on something else like warm baths and lots of rest good luck honey!

I had the same problem! We would go out to dinner and I would have to step out of the car and sniff to see if I would be able to go into the restaurant. Try bananas. I don't know what it is about them but I was told by several moms that they helped and it really helped me. I would eat a banana first thing in the morning to help with the morning sickness, then I just carried them with me all of the time. If I started feeling queasy I would eat a banana and drink some water and, very shortly afterward, the nausea was gone. They are also great for settling nausea in children so keep that in mind when you little one is on solid foods! Good luck and congratulations!!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and smells still make me nauseated. you can try eating smaller meals more often and a natural way to relieve your symptoms is GINGER....ask your Dr about it. mine gave the OK.

many people will tell you to try ginger, dry toast, crackers but none of that really worked for me .....I contacted my family doctor and he told me to try EMETROL (it's an over the counter medicine that will not harm the baby) that was the ONLY thing that really seemed to help with my pregnancy nausea (and don't worry.....this stage won't last for very long but it does seem like forever!!!) hang in there and good luck!!

Anything with ginger in - I used to eat ginger biscuits first thing in the morning and then have a bag of ginger crystals to suck during the day in my handbag.

Hopefully this stage will not last too long and you can get on and enjoy your pregnancy. Congratulations and good luck!
