Going to the gyno whole on my period?!

Question: So i have had a couple scares with being pregnant and I want to end that so i have made the decision to go on birth control. Now i just started my period today and i was hoping on going the gyno tomorrow but i dont think i can now? The thing is i dont want to wait a whole nother month to start taking the pills. So here's my question...do you have to wait til the last day of your period to start on birth control pills? What about the patch, how does that work and when can you start that?

You can start the Pill either the first or fifth day of your period. The vaginal ring (Nuvaring) you can start within that period of time.

The patches are good, but a little, uh, patchy, according to my doctor.

I suggest you go to the gyneco anyway. Your doctor probably won't have to observe, just ask lots of questions (and make sure you ask them too! exploit your time there). If it comes to a physical examination... Relax, a gynecologist studied for this. They should be able to take it with grace.

You can get Birth Conrol Pills from you GP, Most of them you take the 1st day of your period. I think there is one you can take on the 5th day though.

with most birth control pills you either start taking them on the first day of your period or the sunday after you start.

i don't know if you want kids soon or not or how old you are but if your looking for some long term protection give the Marina a try. it lasts 5 years is a simple procedure in the women's health clinic, they just insert it into your uterus . your periods will be heavy the first time but after that you may not have another one. i have a period for about 2 days now its very light though. its allot safer than any pill. your partner wont even know its there. you can have this done any time after your monthly cycle. :)
