Do ALL women go through menopause?!

Question: I'm 32, and had an emergency hystorectomy back in July, and they told me that I would go through menopause early due to the surgery. But so far....nothing. Could something be wrong?

Hi Roxanne,
First of all, I'm so sorry that you've experienced this at such a young age!

Menopause is the end of a woman's menstrual cycle and fertility and is a normal condition that all women experience as they age. It occurs when the ovaries no longer produce estrogen and progesterone, two necessary hormones for a woman's reproductive cycle to function.

Though it naturally occurs with age but it does occur artificially due to hysterectomy!

I'm guessing you've had both ovaries removed in the operation! Have you been given hormone replacement? This helps a great deal with menopausal symptoms!

If both ovaries have also been removed then you enter (artificial) menopause quite suddenly!
If both ovaries have remained then they are still functional and menopause is most likely to occur at the normal age or slightly younger!

I think you go and speak to your GP and get them to explain in more detail what is now happening to your body?

And remember you are an individual and you may not necessarily experience the same symptoms etc as the other person going through the same changes!

Heres a website I found, I only checked it out briefly but I hope this may help you.

Yep, It happens to every single women sooner or later, When you say nothing that's what's meant to happen no period, you've had your uterus cut out, that's where the period blood come from (lining of the uterus) So your fine!
